After renovating a 150 year old house, I had a very difficult hardscape to deal with—a long cement retaining wall and concrete patio that looked barren and ugly. Ideally, I wanted this area to reflect the vintage charm of the house as well as being appropriate to the era that the house was built. Ryan created a magical garden with roses, sasanquas, Japanese maples, heirloom shrubs and grasses as well as a unique fountain and interesting assorted succulents in unusual containers. He built pergolas and stacked stone planting beds, and cozy seating areas tucked within the gardenscape. The garden is an integral part of the house and looks as if it has been added to through the years as the house aged. Ryan’s awesome creativity and craftsmanship brought to life a vision I held but could not quite express, and I am so happy with the results.
