I can say without a doubt my grades have suffered due to the UGA busses. The app often displays arrival times later than when the bus actually arrives and due to the lack of rotational consistency you could be waiting 5 or 35 minutes for the next one. With few exceptions the current bus drivers are some of the most inconsiderate people I’ve ever had the displeasure of having to base my schedule around. I live not far from one of the Milledge stops and I have more than once watched the bus pull up and pull away all while I’m attempting to flag it down (9/18/2023 bus#96023). I have also gotten on the bus at a times that would normally allow me to get to class with time to spare and I have been 5+ minutes late to class because my bus driver has gotten off of the bus to take a phone call, mind you, not at stops like the library or Tate where bus drivers have actual restroom breaks, just at a random spot on milledge Ave. I cannot keep attributing my lateness to the bud, I have a feeling my professors’ sympathy for that reason have been growing thin. more times than I can count I have gotten on the bus and have had to wait for close to ten minutes for the bus ahead of ours to get further away than the bus I’m on. I have really tried to be understanding aware that logistics are a difficult thing to maintain but I do not know what they expect the people who ride the busses, only going based off the UGA apps schedule (it is not at all consistent enough to set a watch to it), to do about it. It feels like your being punished for things entirely outside of your control/awareness. And with maybe one or two exceptions during AM operating hours the bus drivers fail to communicate any issues to the passengers of the bus leaving us confused and frustrated as to why we have sat still at a stop for 5+ minutes without picking anyone up. There is also no easily accessible way to give any direct feedback to UGA’s transit authority. It really does just feel like yelling into the void. I have issues with the bus schedule on the UGA app almost daily at this point, whether it is missing or inaccurate arrival times as previously specified or missing arrow icons. I have submitted innumerable issue reports through the app but nothing gets done. These issues have always existed but it feels like this year (fall 2023) they have become particularly pronounced. And these are issues to expect within the first 2wks of the semester but it’s week 6 and I am still having to base my schedule around the whims of a busted logistical nightmare. All this to say (TL/DR) the uga bus app schedule; whack. 80% of the people driving the buses; whack. And I have missed 40% of my on time class quizzes for no other reason than inaccurate bus times. It feels like my final reason sometimes… (P.S. I wish I didn’t feel compelled to write this because there are 1 or 2 really great AM drivers, but at this point they’re kindness has been overwhelmed)
