I have been using this veterinarian clinic for about 6 years now. The staff members are always so helpful and friendly. I have been impressed with the knowledge and experience of the doctors here as well. Today I took our newly adopted kitten for his first wellness check. Everything went smoothly. I will definitely continue to take all my pets to Gaines Shoal Animal Clinic.

My cat will never go back here. He’s had the same issue for some months now and while there have only been temporary fixes with medication, nothing was effective. I took him to a different vet back in my hometown and they found that he has tapeworms caused by fleas. This was news to me! I’d taken my cat Gaines Shoal for his issue THREE different times and they just prescribed him the same medication every time. I also agree with some of the other reviews here that they are first and foremost a business. I’ve had them trim my cat’s nails before and the most recent time I asked how he did and they said he did great! So I then asked if they had any tips or tricks for trimming his nails at home (he likes to try and run away from me). The FIRST thing they recommended? A sedative pill to give him 2 hours before trimming his nails. I knew at the moment that he wouldn’t ever come back. While the staff was always great and friendly, it’s been frustrating to spend $200+ per visit about the same issue that’s seen little to no improvement. The nail in the coffin was the sedative pill to do something that he had no trouble with at the vet. I’m wondering now if the tapeworms have been the issue all along. I wouldn’t recommend this place to any pet owner. Save your time, money, and your pet’s health.

I have been coming here for a few years and while normally the experience has been fine, my recent encounter has left a bad taste in my mouth. This location seems to have frequent turnover in staff and while the techs and vets are friendly and attentive, recent money-grabbing policies have encouraged me to look elsewhere for my pets’ needs. After spending ~$650 at my vet appointment for my senior dog, I asked for her heartguard prescription. I was told they would email it. Then they called and told me they could not email it due to new policies and I would need to pick it up in person. While inconvenient, I did not see this as a huge problem. I go to pick it up this morning and lo and behold there is now a $5 fee for them to print a single piece of paper with the information I have already paid for and requested. When asked about this new fee they said it is to "pay for the time it takes to look up the prescription". So, after paying $650, which included her heartworm test, I now must pay $5 for a piece of paper to avoid paying the inflated prices of her medication through the vet pharmacy..? This policy is incredibly insensitive and quite truthfully dishonest. I took time and gas out of my day to come pay $5 for a single piece of paper which no one said I would need to do. I spoke to two different people and neither mentioned this “fee”. Vet appointments are already incredibly expensive, but now customers are being punished for trying to find cheaper medication after ALREADY PAYING for the appointment which prescribed said medication to begin with! I am very unhappy, I feel lied to, and I feel like I am seen as a cash-grab rather than a loyal customer trying to do what is best for my dog on the limited budget I have. In the grand scheme of things $5 is not the end of the world, but the lack of transparency, and the money-hungry undertones shocked and disappointed me. The only reason this is 3 stars and not lower is due to the fact that the staff do seem to genuinely care about the animals. I recognize the staff are not responsible for this tacky policy that they have to enforce.

We have been using Gaines Shoal for several years now and they always take great care of our kitties. The staff are always exceptionally nice even when the office is busy. Our 18 year old kitty goes in often for an arthritis shot and she’s always welcomed in so sweetly (even when she herself is not so sweet) and our new kitten was fawned over at her first visit a few days ago. I’m always well informed of what to expect and given pricing for things needed. Highly recommend!

Our new kitten saw Dr. Rankin yesterday to establish care and look at an eye concern. Her and the vet tech, Luke, were both amazing! They were both so through and compassionate towards our little guy! This clinic is wonderful and would recommend to anyone!

The staff was so kind and amazing. The clinic is so clean. Coming in I felt like a bad dog mom and they never shamed me or made me feel bad. They were amazing with my little furry guy! Will be returning.

With my cat's first vet appointment, the receptionist staff and vets were absolutely fantastic with me and my cat. Called me back within minutes of a new available time to ease my stress and were so friendly. Highly recommend to anyone who wants the best care for their fur baby.

I sent an email to this facility when I was trying to find a vet that would help with end of life arrangements for my beloved Copper. I had Shelby respond to me and from the first email exchange, I knew that this was the place that Copper belonged. Copper was treated with the utmost respect and care and I could not have asked for better. Thank you to the whole team, and a special thank you to Shelby, she's an amazing person and I'm proud to say that she is now my friend. We will be bringing all of our animals to Gaines + Shoal from now on!

Everyone at Gaines Shoal really cares about helping animals. Our dog has seen Dr. Rankin for a few years & she is great, all techs & front desk people have been nothing but kind & helpful, we’ve always felt like our concerns or questions (+ our pet’s health !) were taken seriously, and we’ve never received any judgment for needing to factor cost into some of our decisions. Our dog has recently had a health issue & he saw Dr. B for the first time, and it turns out he is just as great & his new perspective helped us figure out what was going on with our doggie ! They can restore your faith in vets if you have had a bad experience with another local clinic &/or ER !!

Hannah, Dr. Alence, and our Amelio were extremely kind, professional. And most attentive. ❤️
