Cofers is my go-to nursery for hard to find plants. Great selection and high quality plants. I usually ask for help to find a specific plant since it’s a big place with a large variety of plants. The employee points to the general area where the plant is rather than taking me to the plant. This wastes a lot of your time while you try to find it and either give up or ask them to show it to you. This has been repeated pretty much every time I shop there so it’s not limited to just one employee. There always seems to be plenty of employees so it doesn’t appear to be a lack of staff. Lots of ways to solve this- customer service training for those working in the nursery area, designated greeter who helps customers, labeling sections of the nursery, etc. The model used by Target is excellent. Regardless of who you ask for help, they will walk with you to the item’s location.

Huh, well my farm was infested by little devious crawling critters called aphids, so i had to pull up with the gang to Cofers Home & Garden and my oh my were we shocked! This was a splendid establishment and a creative and fun use of our precious time, the employees acted accordingly and politely to me and my ganggang (friends for you boomers). After i ordered my Cofers Capsule of ladybugs I dispersed them delicately along the perimeters of my growing garden. Long story short, Cofers Home & Garden #savedmygarden

We have shopped for many things at Cofers, but what I am consistently impressed with is the quality of the Fraser Firs they bring in for Christmas. Every year for the last three years we have bought our family tree from Cofers. We bought this tree the day after Thanksgiving 2024, it has not been watered since Christmas Eve, and here we are 1.5 months later and it still looks excellent with barely any needle shedding! Needless to say, Cofers will continue to be our go-to Christmas tree stop! Did I mention they’re also *way* more affordable than other places around town?! Thanks, Cofers!

Been shopping here for years. First time this season. I needed some fig trees. My wife asked someone to help us with our selection, and they suggested Isaac. He was wonderful. They had a great selection to pick from and Isaac could tell me which ones would be the best for us. We bought three to plant around our new house. He was very helpful fitting them into our small car.

Best place to buy outdoor plants in Athens. I’ve been coming here for years now and the staff has always been super helpful with questions. They also have an awesome greeter, an orange cat who’s always sitting up in his cat tower by the door. Awesome place

I love Cofer’s and have been a customer since -1986 prior to the store moving from Atlanta Highway . Stewart is helpful when I have questions and Joe will try to find plants I want to grow like “ Imura Camellia that is not common today in commerce . They also will get large orders for you and plant them in your garden . I could visit every day ! Great variety , healthy plants , knowledgeable! Very thankful we have a garden expert in Athens !! Squat it is good exercise !

I thought I would give this nursery a try summer for my flower beds. Well after two unsuccessful trips and replanting, I’m still having flowers die right next to ones that are doing well. My advice is to use Lowe’s or Home Depot. At least they’ll let you exchange them & not make you have to keep spending $$. Buyer beware..

First time visiting this garden today and the selection of healthy house plants was absolutely amazing!! The entire staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome and went above and beyond to help us. Prices are a little higher than Home Depot but definitely worth it for bigger healthy plants with no bugs. Will definitely be back!

We have purchased Christmas Trees from Cofers for years. This was the first year we had a major problems. After a few days sap started dripping from the tree and covered the ornaments and lights. Cleaning these (not the clothed ones) was not easy. Soap and water does not remove pine sap. Clothed ones had to be discarded (some with sentimental value). Then bugs start appearing, crawling on the tree, floor, and walls. A visit to talk with a manager at Cofers was met with indifference. "It happens". Next year artificial? Surely not a real tree from Cofers.

I have shopped at Cofer's and been a member of the garden club for roughly 6 years and constantly praised and recommended Cofer's to friends and family. However, I purchased a golden promise japanese cedar almost two months ago (7/28/24) and was told that all trees/shrubs have a two year warranty should the plant die, my tree died within 6 weeks of purchase. When I went to return it today (9/17/24) the cashier told me that the warranty only applies to trees/shrubs that have been planted in the ground and I was not eligible since it was in a pot. I am, and have always been, a renter. I currently live in a second floor apartment and do not own property and there is no option for me to put a plant in the ground. I was disheartened and frustrated to learn that this discriminatory policy exists and bars those that do not or are unable to own property from accessing the full benefits of the warranty offered upon purchase. Unfortunately, based on this discrimination, today was my last day patronizing this establishment, and I will be advising others to avoid it as well. I have loved this plant nursery and am saddened that I have to now shop at other stores that do no offer the same quality and craftsmanship shown at Cofer's, but on the principle of the matter I am left with no choice. So long and thanks for all the fish.
