I wish I could give this place a zero but I guess one star will do. Im a concerned pet owner and my fur babies deserve the best treatment money can buy. One of my dogs had a growth and they said they would call and never did even after showing them pics and actually vist. I would avoid this place. If you want your fur babies taken care of.

After reflecting on everything I’ve seen and heard, I feel it’s important to speak up. I’ve been a client at this clinic, but after witnessing repeated, unprofessional behavior from the head doctor Dr. Vincent Smith, I can no longer recommend it to anyone who cares about animals and the people who care for them. During one of my visits, I watched the doctor berate a veterinary assistant in front of me in the exam room, telling her she wasn’t doing anything right. It was humiliating and completely inappropriate—especially in front of a client. On a separate occasion, I was on the phone with the receptionist when I overheard the doctor yelling at her in the background. After she calmly said she was speaking with a client, he shouted, “I DON’T CARE. WHO’S THE DOCTOR HERE? I’M MORE IMPORTANT.” I was stunned. No professional should speak to their staff that way—let alone in earshot of a client. There is constant staff turnover at this clinic, and it’s not hard to see why. I’ve kept in touch with a couple of former vet assistants, and they’ve all shared similar stories of being mistreated, belittled, and emotionally worn down. This is clearly a toxic work environment created and perpetuated by the leadership. There is absolutely no excuse for repeated verbal abuse and hostility toward employees. Compassion should extend to the people behind the scenes, not just the pets. I won’t be returning—and I strongly encourage others to consider a clinic where both pets and people are respected.

Dr Smith came out to our place and vaccinated and dewormed our 4 goats. He did not hesitate to answer all our questions and gave us helpful info about breeding!!

EDIT----- My dog is extremely sick, I called to see if they could give any advice to help him or do a payment plan so I can bring him in... They told me NO and an ABSOLUTE one at that there is no payment plans and they would not give me any suggestions via the phone. I have been with them for two years. Now in an emergency you refuse to help! If you don't care if my dog lives or not I will not continue services with you... this is sickening to me. Right after moving to Athens I found this vet and I never had a reason to go anywhere else. The staff is amazing Dr. VINCENT is the best. My favorite visit was when he was talking to my daughter about becoming a Vet.

Wish I could give a lesser rating. Tried to set up an appointment over the phone and was put on hold for over 15 minutes - I had to hang up and call back because I was forgotten about. Upon entering, you’ll soon realize there’s not a single friendly face in the entire building apart from the cognitively declining elderly front desk woman who is singularly tasked with answering calls, checking in patients, taking them to rooms as well as getting weight/temp etc. Yet is somehow still noticeably distracted by other conversations being had in the waiting room, to the point you need to repeat yourself several times throughout the process. Needless to say that even with an appointment, you and your pet will be waiting nearly an hour before you’re in a room, one with such thin walls and doors that everyone in the adjacent lobby can hear every word being said. You’ll be stared at by other employees who won’t even smile back at you because clearly this place is miserable. If the lack of a paved entrance didn’t make it obvious, this place cuts corners in every conceivable fashion and to put the cherry on top, they don’t even pretend to care about your animals. I’ve had several cats get bloodwork done before and I have never, ever seen so much fur unnecessarily shaven off in order to get a sample - if my testament to this isn’t enough, feel free to read other reviews where people have complained about the exact same thing. These people make it so clear that they do not care about the well-being of your pet even in the slightest. The vet I saw was apathetic, impolite, unprofessional, completely inconsiderate, and not in control of her emotions in the slightest. My experience was so poor in so many ways that I refused to let them continue and chose to seek out another vet immediately, because I had absolutely zero faith in their abilities to treat my pet with dignity. If you love your pet, look elsewhere for a place that actually makes an attempt and doesn’t blatantly disrespect you and your babies. Their prices were cheap but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

I just want to say thank you so much to Dr. Smith and his wonderful staff. Thank you for loving my 17 year old baby and calling to check on me and my younger pup when I thought she had an emergency. You all are so wonderful and should be thanked every day.

Dr Vincent Smith has always taken excellent care of our animals, I would say over and beyond. Vincent is a very caring and knowledgeable veterinarian. Our family would not choose any one other than Athens Regional Vet Services.

My cat of 14 years was slowly not eating well and barely drinking. And then went downhill fast. I am so grateful to Dr Smith and his staff for the love and compassion they gave to my cat and also to me! Dr Smith’s expertise was evident as he did some needed tests. They immediately put him on fluids and he stayed a couple of days, with me getting updates. After results came back from a blood test, Dr Smith said an x-ray was needed. He took me to see the x-ray, explaining what a healthy cat looks like, then showed me my cat’s x-ray. Due to large tumors, there was nothing that could be done. I decided on euthanasia, as my buddy was clearly suffering. While it was hard, there was also a sense of relief, and Dr Smith was so gentle and expressed his sadness that he couldn’t be saved. As we were leaving, the person at the front desk (Beth?) also said she was sorry for my loss. They get all the stars for their efforts to help my cat, and I would trust them implicitly with any animal needing a vet.

UPDATE: Julianne trimmed my dog's claws and dew claws today. She not only did a beautiful job, she was so kind toward my scared fur baby. Thank you! Dr. Smith is a very competent, caring veterinarian and the staff is always helpful, efficient, and friendly. I have many pets and have been a satisfied client for many years with horses, chickens, pot-bellied pigs, a donkey, dogs, and cats.
