I purchased a pool cleaning robot from this company a while back. A year later, the power cord for the robot quit working, so the staff helped me order a new cord under the manufacturer’s warranty. It took over a year for the manufacturer and distributor to get their act together and finally get that cord delivered to Athens, but the Shields staff kept me updated throughout the process and consistently kept pressure on the slow parties on my behalf. I appreciated them having my back as their customer.

I wish I didnt have to write this but I honestly have zero good things to say about this company. The employees are amazing and know what they are doing but the company is the issue. A couple things we have suffered when we used them: -Severely overcharging for chemicals -Claiming to have used more chemicals than they did (confirmed with the technician who handled the pool) -Attempting to claim payment for services already paid for. And if these things were bad enough, their accounting is so bad they are attempting to claim payment a year and a half after we cancelled them and they were already paid. Seriously anyone else would be better even if its just your teenage nephew. Do not use them.

I bought my wife a Bid Green Egg and the sales and service was great. They were very informed of the product, and offered all the gadgets to help me join the smoker world. We love our egg and thanks to the guys at Birchmore Shields for the great customer service. we will be back.

We had an issue with a faulty salt system being installed for our pool. Birchmore installed it and, through no fault of their own, it was defective. They have gone above and beyond to correct the issue. The owner, Me. Shields and Jason came out personally to install a new system and we were told "don't worry, we will make it right". And they have! Absolutely love walking in and people knowing us by name. We even get random phone calls to check and make sure everything us going good...not "what can I sell you" calls, but genuine "what can we do for you" calls. Thanks, y'all! We will continue to support this great business!

After dealing with another pool company for a month and not getting my pool clean i came to see my friend Monica at Birchmore and regret not going there from the beginning! She helped take my pool from brown disgusting water to beautiful blue water in less than a week! Birchmore definitely has my business from now on, very happy customer!

I was "put on a list" twice since last Fall about replacing sand in the filter, installing a salt water system and and giving me a quote to repair tile work on our pool, they never got back with me. So, I decided to drop back in and check to see if they could still do it. They asked how bad it was and I told them I had been waiting for months to get them out there, so it was bad. I was rudely told "We can't do it. We don't have time to do it" When I said I had "been on a list" for over 9 months about getting someone out, he told me to "watch TV". That's the reason they can't do it. Not sure what that meant, but to blame something else for not getting back to me let me know everything I needed to about the way they conduct business. Never again. Look elsewhere for your pool needs.

Used this company for approximately 1 year to manage a commercial pool. When I took over management, the pool was very neglected. Tile was filthy, only one year old tile. Water chemistry was completely off. Birchmore technician (son of owner) would possibly vacuum once a week (paid for 2 visits per week). After multiple complaints, the owner removed his son from our pool and supplied us with a very educated, seasoned technician. This technician did everything in his power to remedy our problems. He was not given the time, nor the supplies to complete the job satisfactorily. After numerous complaints again, the owner himself called me to tell me they wanted to double their "contracted price" in order to continue services. I agreed to discontinue using their services in order to hire out a different company. I expressed that it was the middle of the month and we expect Birchmore to complete the month so we have time to bring in our new company. The following day, the owner himself called and left a voicemail regarding the decision to discontinue services immediately. Obvioulsy, I would STRONGLY discourage anyone from using this company in the future.

I purchased both of my Big Green Eggs from Wesley at Birchmore. I bought my first one which is a large in 2009. The fire box in it has been cracked for a while but it has not been an issue. I noticed this weekend that I had a crack in the base of my large egg. I sent pictures of the cracks in the base and fire box to Wesley on Monday. I got an email from Wesley on Tuesday that the parts were covered by warranty, I got another email from him on Wednesday that my parts were in ready to be picked up. Great service from Birchmore and great warranty service from BIG Green Egg. If you need a Big Green Egg or anything related I would suggest Birchmore.

Wesley is very helpful, and usually very happy! Betty is friendly and considerate also! I go there to make sure pool and spa waters are cleans and healthy. They have a great water chemical water tester. If u need chemicals they got what u need. They also sell and install spas and exercise current pools. Prices are good on these.

Very shady company to do business with. was told technician would call me back to discuss my problem. The lady never mentioned they were on their way or if there was any service charge to diagnose the problem. When he called he was in my drive way. Their quote was substantially higher than others so I decided to not use them. Was never told about a service call charge by anyone and now they indicate they will invoice me $129 for 30 minutes time... have no problem paying a reasonable service charge for someone to come to the house, but if they would have told me it was that much to begin with I would have told them to take a plunge.
