Summary: Merry Maids of Athens left my home cleaner overall, but their “deep clean” fell short of expectations. They claim that two people can deep clean a home in 3 hours (or 6 if only one person), but even with 15 hours billed, many basic areas were missed or barely touched. My home was already fairly clean before they arrived, yet details like window trims, blinds, baseboards, floors, and small appliances were left dirty or overlooked. Full Review: I recently hired Merry Maids of Athens for a deep cleaning. While my house was left cleaner overall and I appreciate the effort that was put in, I was disappointed in the lack of attention to detail and the way I was made to feel as though my home was overly dirty or required extra time when it was already fairly clean. I always clean before my cleaners arrive. Bathtubs, showers, countertops, no clutter, etc.. are already done so they were not walking into a home that required hours of heavy scrubbing. There were positives to the service. Areas of my home did look noticeably better, and overall the space felt fresher once the team left. They took the time to clean the shelves of my TV stand and the cup holders of my couches, even wiping them down with the leather wipes I provided, which I appreciated. Amanda, the cleaner I interacted with the most, was very kind, honest, and pleasant when I asked her to revisit areas. I appreciated that the company offered me options after I raised concerns, such as addressing issues at the next cleaning or providing a refund, even though I chose not to take the refund. My concern is not about getting money back, but about receiving the quality of service that a “deep clean” is supposed to provide. That said, several basic areas were either missed or only lightly addressed, including end tables, window tracks, blinds, baseboards, light switches, the outside of the refrigerator drink dispenser, and the kitchen floor, which still looked dirty. My children’s bathroom floor still appeared very unclean after the service. I also found chip crumbs, hair bows, and dead flies left behind. Even small details, such as wiping down my coffee maker, were overlooked. The window trims and blinds were only wiped with wet wipes, which left spots behind, and some trims, seals, and latch areas were not touched at all and remained covered in dust. For a service labeled as a deep clean, I expected greater attention to these kinds of details. Especially, with several people in my home at once (for hours). On the first day the cleaners didn’t get started until about 1:45 and left before 5:00. The next day they arrived around 9:30 and left before 2:00. I was told more than 15 hours of work had been billed for my home. Given the results, this did not align with the level of detail I would have expected in that amount of time. Most of the areas I mentioned were light cleaning tasks that easily could have been completed during that time. When I called to share my concerns, I was told the cleaners had done the best they could in the time they had, and that some areas with buildup may take multiple visits. I understand that for heavy buildup, but the issues I raised were basic tasks that should have been handled in a deep clean. I was also told that windows were not included, which I understand when it comes to the glass, but trims, seals, and blinds should reasonably fall within a deep cleaning standard. It seems that Merry Maids of Athens relies heavily on a Swiffer-style push mop for floors and wet wipes for baseboards and blinds. For the cost of a deep clean, this approach does not reflect the level of thoroughness or professionalism I expected. I have since asked that going forward they use the O-Cedar mop and steam mop that I provided instead of the Swiffer-style mop to ensure the floors are cleaned properly. I have scheduled bi-weekly basic cleanings with them and will update this review after the next visit to share whether my concerns are addressed and if the ongoing service meets my standards.

Their attention to detail was exceptional, every surface sparkled and the home has never looked or smelled this fresh. Our tenants had pets, and they completely eliminated any lingering pet odors, leaving the space smelling clean and inviting. After our remodel, there was dust everywhere, but their team took care of it all. They deep-cleaned baseboards, floors, cabinets, and counters, making everything shine like new. The showers have never been this clean, truly spotless! The cleaners were professional, courteous, and thorough, allowing me to do a full walk-through afterward to ensure everything met my expectations. I didn’t need a single change, they had already addressed every concern I mentioned during the initial consultation. This was more than just a cleaning; it was a transformation.
