I’ve been coming to the department of Labor in Athens for years, and the customer service has never been great. The establishment is always clean, has computers that you can use for job searching, you are able to get copies of things printed off etc. but they should really step up the customer service, and making sure that the consumers are happy with their visit.

The online portal is not very intuitive, it's very clunky and unclear. Calling is useless as you won't reach anyone, the automated customer service asks you to verify who you are and you provide all your info and then it thanks you and tells you the call volume is high and to call back the next business day. Calling early on a Friday you get that message - which means you have to go through a weekend with your questions unanswered and the cutoff time to get benefits is Saturday night. The GDOL website is terrible, the required in office orientation is terrible, it was headed by someone whose English is their 3rd language and could hardly be understood. I was sent two letters and one letter said I was eligible and the 2nd letter said I was not and I received these letters on the same day. I have not received benefits in a month but I keep entering my job search details. The Gov't cannot run anything efficiently. The GDOL would fail at running a lemonade stand in the desert; they are that incompetent.

The reviews are accurate. They deserve a ZERO because my friend switched unemployment offices to find out ATHENS, GA had made NOTES of what they needed to do BUT NEVER ACUTALLY DID IT, causing my friend to miss 4 weeks of payments so far! How is this even a government office? EVERY ONE CALL THE GEORGIA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE AND REPORT THIS OFFICE!

I had a great experience. It was quick and easy to apply for unemployment, and the employees were very helpful and professional. I was dreading going after reading these reviews, but that was not my experience!

Unacceptable customer service! I've been on hold for over two hours, and this isn't the first time—I've called multiple times, and no one ever answers! Why even provide a contact number if no one is going to pick up? It's incredibly frustrating to waste hours just trying to get assistance. The lack of responsiveness is beyond disappointing and needs to be addressed immediately!

The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Make sure you come prepared though, gather all documentation and notices you've received as that will give you the best chance of them resolving issues promptly.

This is the first time I've had to go to a unemployment office. I was laid off due to my area shutting down at my work so I came in knowing nothing I was promptly handed a handbook and told to go home and do it online so I did and when I applied there was a issue I tried to call but nobody has ever picked up the phone the entire time I've had to deal with these issues so I've had to drive to the office every single time sometimes 3-4 times a week. My issue was my company didn't report my earnings so it says I'm unelligble I was promptly told again to keep applying for benefits that a case worker was assigned to my case that was 2 weeks ago I took it upon myself to call my previous employer and have them send the correct paperwork in and they did the same day I'm still being told the case is ongoing dispite the paperwork already been filled out and sent back to clear my issue it has been over a week I was told they received the paperwork and are putting it into the system but nothing has reflected that. I am extremely frustrated with everyone involved as I have not gotten any information or progress on my case since it's began and from what I've been told I cannot contact my case manager because "they don't have that information" I do not recommend in any way going here or talking to these people it will accomplish little to anything and only waste your time but some if us have no choice. If I could give this place 0 stars I would.

My father had the most awful experience. I arrived at 1:25pm on July 17, 2023, sign in, then an hour went by, and everyone that arrived after me was called for except me. Then I went, and ask but the person in the kiosk told me that she would see the list then continue calling people that just arrived. Then I go back to the her since I saw someone else that had attended me in the morning and ask her is this were the papers. Then the lady that was calling people and did not allow me to explain what I needed and she always answered in a fighting tone was going to tell me off but the other person recognized me and attended me and she keep quiet. The person on the front has bad costumer service, and tone, and the best costumer service is to hear what someone has to say and then take action in accordance what I saw and experience today was unprofessional.

The front office staff are terrible. They are extremely rude. The security guards have a better demeanor and are way more polite. I've talked to them multiple times over a three week period and each time they are rude to me and everyone around them. The only people that have been nice is the phone switch board operator and the security guard. More importantly, they are SLOW at their job. The unemployment division is literally taking to the last possible day, which is today, to make a decision on my claim. Update: So, it took nearly 4 weeks to be denied. 4 weeks. It wasn't like you had a so much information that ended in a toss up. Your office is lazy and obviously has zero ambition to do their job efficiently. I'm not so mad at the denial even though that decision was bogus. It's the fact that I had to spend hours filling out paperwork and waiting at the office. That was precious time I could have used to find a job. This whole experience was pitiful. Maybe some of the administrators should hire some of the job seekers.... That might be an innovative decision that would result in productiveness. Well... I guess that's not going to happen with the present Admin in there. Good luck folks. Good luck.

The amount of Stress the GDOL has caused isn't worth 1 cent of mybhard earned money. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst cartoon foe. I've provided I'd 3 times am approved and still 0 funds. They do not want me to have a home . Is it racist, phobic. Or just plain run into the ground by bad leadership. Vacate people we are not wanted here . White male
