After being informed by a company—let’s call them “X Heating and Cooling”—that my system would require $4,800 in repairs, I decided to seek a second opinion based on recommendations from the Oglethorpe County Facebook community. Several people suggested Acker Heating and Cooling, and I am so glad I followed their advice. The technician from Acker was courteous, knowledgeable, and thorough. Within 40 minutes, he had my system up and running. In contrast, the technician from Company X spent only about 15 minutes on-site before providing his so-called “educated” diagnosis. I had an ac drain stop up in my attic. It was causing a leak in my hallway. Called Acker and they said they would have someone out in the afternoon. He didn’t arrive until 6:30 pm. The guy could barely walk and had a really ugly attitude. He was either drunk or really old. He could’nt see where the joists were in my attic because of the new insulation was not marked. So he climbed down and told me, “Well, I just wasted my time coming over here.” And hobbled out of my garage and got in his van and left. 😮 His attitude was not a good representation of this company. Y’all really need to let this retire before he falls and breaks a hip.

Daniel and Ryan came and serviced my AC unit and we were extremely pleased of the professionalism of these two young men! They gave us a honest diagnosis and showed us what they were doing, and also the readings from their monitors to show whether we were in range or out of range.

The Acker guys installed my furnace 10 years ago and have maintained it since. My 45 year old condenser failed last night and the Acker tech was here at 10am, had the problem diagnosed by 11am, and had the problem fixed by noon. Top notch service all around

Recently, I had to replace the HVAC systems in my house and could not be more pleased with the purchase process and installation of the units. Additionally, they did not try to upsell me on the units, which I greatly appreciate. In fact, after listening to how I planned to heat and cool my house, less expensive units were recommended than what I was considering. John Acker spent a lot of time working up proposals for both HVAC units to try to get me the best price for my needs. The installers were very nice as well. We had a great experience with Acker installing our new Mitsubishi heat pump. We got bids from four HVAC companies in the Athens area, and it was an easy decision to choose Acker. We had several conversations with John Acker, who was extremely knowledgeable, thorough, helpful, and genuine. Acker Heating and Cooling gave us the lowest bid on the same Mitsubishi units as the other companies, and they stood out for their honesty and fair dealing. Another important aspect that made us choose Acker was their knowledgeability and guidance on two rebates which were available, a federal rebate and a state rebate. The installation by Levi and Colin went very smoothly and efficiently. We’re extremely happy with our experience with Acker, and highly recommend this company. It’s a gem.
