First time going there today. My son moved to Athens and we wanted to go to lunch. I love finding "hole in the wall" restaurants. My son lives 2 1/2 miles from this place, has been in Athens for 3 years and didnt know about it. It looks like it use to be an old deli/meat market from 60s/70s. 3 out of 4 of us ordered 3 different burgers (they were perfect). 2 of us ordered the mac and cheese (was good but you could tell it wasn't baked). I ordered the pulled pork sandwich (I don't normally eat pulled pork outside of our home) it was sooooo good! The only complaint I have is when I got home with the leftovers, I noticed that there was so much fat in the pulled pork. I paid for pulled pork....not chunks of fat.

This restaurant was featured in Eater Atlanta Athens Top Ten Edition as well coming in 3rd for Trip Advisor's Athens BBQ Restaurants. My guest was a bit leery on the name choice as it doesn't conjour up pittmaster BBQ. But while he doesn't feel strongly about Google Reviews, he did have more faith in Trip Advisor. And I pointed out this restaurant made both lists. As we wanted to dine out for Sunday Dinner another factor was serving Sunday evening until 8PM. We had the only appetizer - Housemade Pimento Cheese with Wheat Crackers. We also shared both BBQ Plates - Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken which are accompanied by a soft, warm Roll, Mac and Cheese, and Coleslaw. The Macaroni is soft and well cooked with a good balance of cheese. Coleslaw is fresh cabbage with light dressing. BBQ was moist. While other reviews mention BBQ Sauce Overload to the point of getting messy, we had light sauce on both plates. We also shared the fresh Banana Pudding. Sadly the bathroom is accessed via the back of the building walking on several uneven surfaces which is not wheelchair accessible. (Surface starts off cement, uneven brick, leaves/grass, and uneven concrete. But if you have light mobility issues the bathroom itself has handicap railings. Plenty of parking on street or across the street in the neighboring church parking lot with permission. The ambiance is eclectic and cozy.

Absolutely loved this quirky little place. We are road tripping through the state and found this place on google maps. We were looking for somewhere with good meat and vegetarian options and this place has lots of great options. Plus, we could sit outside with the dog. We all really enjoyed the food. My family loved the Mac and cheese and pimento cheese and crackers. The tofu salad was great. Also ordered was the BBQ pork sandwich, smoked chicken sandwich, portobello burger and the bacon cheeseburger. All really good eats! The service was awesome. So friendly and accommodating. Totally recommend this place and it is a shame we probably won’t be back. Go!

Hello future myself. This is a white people BBQ place that missed every single seasoning there is. This is the third time you have been there in 8 or so years. It's still not good. Coleslaw was watered down and no seasoning. Pulled chicken, barely any smoke and no seasoning, the Mac and Cheese was sad.

Every time I hit up @whitetigerathens in Athens, I ask myself "why am I not here every week!?" 😭 Every menu item here is amazing but my favorite is their sandwiches... neat and delicious without going over board on anything. Theirs staff is always friendly and prices are fair. Inside is spacious but I've managed to make it here every time when they aren't crowded so I can't speak to how crowded they get and how parking is impacted (street parking). Maybe came at an off time/day but was not impressed. Max and cheese had very little flavor and very dry. Burger also lacked flavor and was only saved by ketchup. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but definitely lacked smoky flavor, but sauce and cheese was good. Didn’t have too high of hopes for the Side salad to start with, but wanted some vegetables, so decided to get it too…would not recommend. Had to ask separately for dressing and what we received seemed like plain oil, no vinegar in the vinaigrette…. Probably won’t come back even though it was highly recommended by friends and other reviews.

I’ve written nearly 300 reviews on Google. I was a waitress that worked in a family-owned beach seafood restaurant 7 years then retired from fine dining working under a top rated US chef. I’m a foodie with years of actual food service experience. All that being said… White Tiger Gourmet ranks in the top 3 restaurants I’ve ever eaten at, it was truly incredible. The service was awesome, the preparation was timely, and the food was absolutely delicious. I’m stopping the workday to write this review because they deserve it immediately. This restaurant should be packed at all times. They blow everyone out of the water in Athens and the entire state of Georgia honestly, and there are some exceptional places around here, Atlanta, Augusta, all the spots traveled to for work. Thank you for a truly phenomenal experience. NOW GO HERE!!!

I stumbled upon this place while enjoying a day of self-love and self care. I love a diamond in the rough *aka* funky, eclectic decor, somewhat sketchy location, good food, and good service. And White Tiger Gourmet did not disappoint.The music was great and they have t-shirts you can purchase (I think I saw shirts on display 🤔). The inside is small and intimate. The place holds about 7 tables. Each of the tables seat up to 5 people and 1 table seats 2. There are several picnic tables outside and a walk up window for to go orders. The menu is interesting for a place that sells itself as a BBQ establishment. However, as a native Texan, I am slightly biased and certainly spoiled! 😉 I ordered the seared salmon on ciabatta bread. I was pleasantly surprised to find the salmon was well seasoned, moist, and tender. I am a bread lover and the ciabatta was delicious. It was soft, chewy, and crunchy. The sandwich was the perfect size, not too big, not too small. I'm not a huge cucumber lover so I probably should've opted out of the cucumbers. The sandwich wasn't overdressed. The menu mentions cream cheese, but I didn't taste any on the sandwich. The capers and organic field greens were a nice addition. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese that was nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese was hot and fresh, but it was under seasoned. Hence the 4 stars. Overall I was impressed. I will be returning to try other menu items like the Jason Sandwich, the Portabella Cheese Burger, and the Vegetarian Ciabatta.

Amazing food. I mean like...we re-planned parts of our trip to go again amazing. Staff was also really helpful and sweet. The bbq is excellent but there's also lots of options for vegetarians. The seared salmon was so tender and really perfectly cooked. Order the Pimento Cheese and Crackers - totally worth it.

Just moved into town over the weekend and was recommended White Tiger. I got the BBQ plate which comes with pulled pork, mac n cheese, coleslaw and a roll. I'm not a coleslaw person but they let me switch it out for more mac which was great. The food was amazing and the atmosphere sitting outside after dark with the lights was lovely. The pulled pork was delicious and the mac n cheese was perfect. We went on a Sunday around 6pm and it wasn't a long wait at all. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area and I'll definitely be back to try the sandwiches or burgers next time.
