I love coming here. It's so relaxing and inviting. Play pool, watch the TV, enjoy the open mic or other events, or just chat at the bar. If you're looking for a great, sober hangout spot, definitely check out Mai Kai. Hung out for a few hours today with Taylor working behind the bar. She's amazing!! Thank you Mai Kai for being such a welcoming and fun atmosphere and for having such an amazing staff ready and happy to help you pick the prefect drink for you!

Great people. Great drinks. Best spot in town. Courtney is the best business owner I’ve ever seen, for real. She truly cares about her customers like they’re family. I always feel at home when I’m there. I get the frozen cookies and cream kavalanche, it’s so yummy! It’s a great atmosphere, lots of fun events going on and the space itself is always evolving in exciting ways.

MaiKai is a great place to go for community and to spend time with good people. The staff are all friendly and I always look forward to the discussions that happen there. It's nice to be able to go somewhere where there is no alcohol but everyone is still being social and having a shared experience. The drinks are good too! My favorite drink is the kava shell in a coconut -- it makes me feel like I'm on an island somewhere far away.

TL;DR: This place is priced well, and the personnel is kind. Good place to meet new people and to hang with friends. They play music and have a warm feel. They also have instruments here to play if wanted. I’ve come here for a year and a half now, I’ve meet most of my friend here. This place is a small community, and you will meet people that will take care of you. I lost my job a few months ago, and my friend that I met here gave me work to do for a month until I got another job. I wouldn’t have met him if I hadn’t come here. The servers are kind and welcoming, and the owner is kind and welcoming as well! Keep in mind, if you’re reading my review and saying to yourself “this is bull and is probably just a fake review” come in here and talk to the people who are here. Interact with everyone. Have a drink with the person you don’t know. You’ll find that everyone here is perfectly kind to everyone especially newcomers. Give them a shot, and I hope you enjoy coming here.

Maikai Kava Lounge is an absolute gem in Athens! The atmosphere is so chill and welcoming. Taylor was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The Arnold Palmer was also great! Definitely one of our new go-to spots in Athens. Highly recommend checking this place out!

MaiKai is such a gem! The staff are welcoming, the menu and event rosters are extensive. Zoë is a pro and makes the best drinks! Super knowledgeable, she can find a match for every customer that comes through the door. Worth stopping by anytime you’re in town.

MAI KAI is the best kava and kratom spot in town! Great place to knock out some work or homework and grab a non-alcoholic beverage! The owner is VERY FRIENDLY and so is all of the staff! Definitely a good spot if you are sober!
