I'm a personal care assistant and I stayed with a very lovely lady for a few hours this morning. When I first arrived I spoke to the man at the front desk. He was very helpful with me signing in. Then, all the residents I saw on the way in and on the way out were very pleasant. Acknowledging their neighbors with happy smiles. When I came out of the apartment I was in, the lady with a cleaning cart greeted me. She was very friendly. All around, it was obvious that everybody I saw was happy To be there.

I have lived in Lanier Gardens for three years now, and am so glad to be here. It is HUD assisted, and I need and am so grateful for that financial support. And every other kind of support is available here too! Activities, dining room, kind staff and many new friends. I feel safe here, very important to me also. I recommend both Lanier Gardens and Talmadge Terrace so highly to anyone - and if you're on a wait list, it is worth the wait. Marie Napoli, age 74

This is the most wonderful place. I cannot say enough good things. My mother has been living here for almost five months now. She has reconnected with friends and met so many new friends. The food is outstanding. But what makes Talmage Terrace and Lanier Gardens so unique is the staff. It wasn’t that easy a transition for my mother to move from her house (of 43 years). There were some hurdles during the transition. Every time I have reached out to a staff member (from any department) they never made me feel like I was disrupting their routine and would rally to help my mother in any and every situation. There is security 24/7 which I have to called, even in the middle of the night. What amazes me the most is the staff is so courteous and helpful no matter when I call. It has been a major blessing to have mom somewhere I know she is safe and around such positive, nurturing people, especially since I live four hours away. KUDOS to the staff at Lanier Gardens and Talmage Terrace in Athens Georgia!!! #1 Adult Community in my opinion!!!

Lovely Place, within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Security building, Dining Facilities, great activities available, And the lovely Residents I met closing my Mothers apartment were wonderful. I met the Executive Director during this process and could tell the quality of Administration it takes to maintain its high standards. I would relocate from Boston to Lanier Gardens.

Lanier Gardens/Talmage Terrace has served our family well. My husband's Mother lived at Lanier Gardens when it was relatively new to Athens. She thoroughly enjoyed several years there before moving to Budd Terrace, in Atlanta, near where we were living at the time. My parents moved into Lanier Gardens 17 years ago. They shared an apartment until my Dad needed to relocate to Assisted Living in Talmage Terrace. His remaining in the same facility as Mother eased their separation transition, he had extra care, and they saw each other daily for a meal or activities. After his death, my Mother remained in their apartment for another six years, and is now herself a resident in Assisted Living. Our family greatly appreciates the attentive care, support, and friendship shown to our parents and us by the staff all these years. They and residents alike have created a special community in Athens that meets the needs of those who live there and their families. Many Thanks, Trois & Max Wall

My mother lived in a Lanier Gardens apartment and later transitioned to a personal care apartment in Talmage Terrace. We could not have been happier with her decision to move there. She felt at home, made many new friends, and enjoyed her continued independence. And when the time came to transition to the personal care apartment, she received wonderful care from a circle of dedicated caregivers. Mary Garrison

We are very pleased with the care our Dad is getting at Talmage Terrace. His wait time was about 6 months, to get on the Personal Care floor, with the option of moving into Independent Living when it became available. After several months, we realized Personal Care was where Dad needed to stay, as his medications are dispensed to him, helping with his memory issues, and caretakers check on him throughout the day and night. He is free to come and go from his efficiency apt. and building as he pleases, and enjoys outings by way of shuttle service. Dad feels safe, secure, well fed, and cared for at Talmage Terrace . . . which provides much assistance and relief to his children!

I lived in Talmadge Terrace about 7 months (6-7 years ago) but decided to move after I was more sure of my health. It is a wonderful place but a bit pricey for my needs. Lanier Gardens is less pricey but it takes a lot of time to get in there. However, both are excellent in my opinion.

I lived at Lanier Gardens for five years from 2012 - 2017. It was the most joyous and happy place I have ever lived. Everyone cares and looks out for the other guy in the sweetest, most tender way. It was as close to paradise as I've ever been in this life. When I suffered cardiac arrest in front of the office at lunch time, three staff members rushed to my aid, immediately administering life-saving CPR while another staff member summoned fire trucks and ambulances. Several folks ended up beating on my chest to try to bring me back to life while my friends stood outside the yellow tape crying and praying for me. The Lord must have heard them because I am a miraculous five-year survivor. God bless all my beautiful, wonderful friends and the staff there who gave me back my life.

We absolutely loved the place. My mother visited and applied and was put on waiting list April or May 2015. When checked back in August was #72. Checked back early November was #67. Checked back Jan 2016 and still #67. ????????? Not one person has moved out? Hopefully the list just has not been updated. Originally told can take up to 12 months, but usually doesn't. Now saying up to 24 months. I need to get my mom up to Athens, from South Ga. so she is closer to me. Some senior citizens will pass away waiting for their place there. Frustrated :(
