Walked in by myself as someone who’d never been in Athens before, ordered a coffee I’d never tried (Cubano con leche), and yet I still felt at home. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend a visit whether you’re just passing through or a local.

Love this place, one of the most welcoming and comfortable places to hang out in Athens. Whether it’s a high energy game of trivia or a more chill board game night (ONLY $7 to choose from the huge selection and play all day?! What a steal!) I have never not had a good time. The bartenders are also so sweet and the food is amazing, especially the tofu banh mi which I get a craving for regularly. 10/10

Its an interesting concept but not actually executed that well. Most of the games are missing pieces and parts so whatever game you do pick expect it to not be complete. The sitting area is incredibly dark; I enjoy the moody lighting but can make it hard to see the game you want to play. Food is what you would expect from a cafe, service is hit or miss. I went once where service was great and a different time where it was hard trying to get the help from the worker.

As many other have mentioned the board games/game selection is vast! Coffee (9/10): it had a simple latte it was good The vibe is 👌 I would love to spend more time playing but that's not always possible 😥

First time at The Rook & Pawn... Didn't get to spend nearly enough time there, but we did enjoy the coffee and atmosphere greatly. The selection of games was vast. The set up is really conducive to game play and conversation. Can't wait to go back again. 10 out of 10, highly recommend

First off, Nickoli is the best trivia host and we love him. I am lost without his presence. Praise be. The food—takes a while but pretty scrumptious. I get the Italian panini. Drinks—great selection and I love the Shinji which is my go to. My only complaint is that my drink is slightly different every time it’s made so it can be hit or miss with the creation. Highly recommend coming here for games, snacks and drinks. Also, I found out of this place from word of mouth and the servers and bar tenders are great.

I’ve been a customer here many times over the past ten years but I fear I’m at my wits end. The food is always subpar, the service is terrible and the employees are rude and lazy. They never answer the phone and have no sort of online ordering option so even when I want a mid and under filled sandwich I have to go in person and wait an hour for cold food. Can’t even order lunch anymore smdh. The games are good but many are missing pieces or parts and the staff seem annoyed by the fact they work somewhere that customers would like to visit. If I could give the service zero stars I would. I think it’s a great place to go if you are friends with the bartender or are too drunk to remember.

Great place to hang out and challenge your friends to unlimited games for 5$. The staff are some of the most down-to-earth, cool people—very personable and fun to talk with. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of their delicious coffee and teas! The decor is also hip, though one of their chairs in the back must be about 50 years old! All in all, a solid place.

Loved this board game cafe! We were only in Athens for a day to see some R.E.M. sites but we spent almost three hours here. Super friendly staff, good food, yummy cocktails, and a huge board game collection. I wish we lived nearby!
