I usually don’t leave bad reviews, and I give chances because I'm a business owner myself and I understand everybody has there days. But this is the 5th time we have spent our money with no apology for no sympathy for terrible service and food. We used to love this place but it fell offf bad. The barbacoa is always old/overcooked and dried out and on top on that all the grease isn’t drained before it’s out in the taco. I mean it literally was like beef jerky the last couple of times no exaggeration. Look for yourself.

I keep hearing how good their breakfast is so despite being disappointed with dinner there a while back I decided to give it a shot. The breakfast burrito was the worst I’ve ever had, literally the silliest excuse for a breakfast burrito I’ve ever seen. Warm tortilla, ice cold ingredients inside. The shredded cheese was closer to frozen than melted, the eggs were maybe 1/2 a scrambled egg and a tiny bit of bacon with some “jalapeño” that was diced to microscopic proportions and had zero flavor. A huge disappointment. I will not try this place again.

Worth the wait!! As a customer who has only ever eaten their breakfast, I can still say the same. There breakfast tacos are excellent and very fresh. They are made to order, and make sure to add the toppings of your choice. The group of three I went with all got one taco. It was so good that I decided to buy another for to-go!

Stopped by to try this place for the first time during lunch. I ordered the brisket plate with macaroni and collard greens as my sides. Meal was around $19 including an added drink before any tip. This was my first time having brisket and I’m not sure I would ever have it again if this is how it’s suppose to be cooked. It lacked any flavor to me and was only edible because of the sauce. The sides I tried were terrible. I opened my macaroni and immediately realized I had been served something similar to boxed mac and cheese except the boxed macaroni from Kraft may have tasted better. The “macaroni” only tasted like noodles and pasta water with absolutely no seasoning or even hint of cheese flavoring. The “cheese” used must be the liquid packaged stuff you get out of boxed macaroni but severely watered down. I tried adding salt and pepper to it and it was still inedible and bland. It was quite literally the worst macaroni I’ve ever been served. The collard greens tasted like they were made with pickle juice for some odd reason and that was off putting to me. They had a kick to them but definitely not the collard greens I am use to. If this is how BBQ is in Texas I’m not jumping to go try it anytime soon and I don’t see myself returning to this restaurant. I ended up throwing the majority of the food away unfortunately. Many people seem to love this place so maybe I just caught them on a bad day.

Extraordinary breakfast tacos. This unassuming little eatery with no indoor seating (but plenty outside) has the best taco in Athens. These perfectly sized tacos are so much better than those tasteless rolled up Sunday paper "burritos" you get at the chain places. Your order is cheerfully taken and can be filled with fresh ingredients such as egg, potato, brisket, chorizo jalapeño and many other goodies. Cooked fresh and brought to you. I gotta come back for the brisket- I hear it is the best this side of Texas. I don't doubt it. If I lived nearby, Tamez BBQ would be on a weekly rotation. 10 stars. Highly recommended.

Walked into the Watkinsville location on a Saturday around 11:30am with my gf. First time ever trying Tamez. Was stoked to see they had breakfast on the menu. I ordered brisket breakfast burrito. One of the chefs heard us saying it was our first time and brought out a sample of brisket. Brisket was bomb! I’ll be back fa sho.

This is real Texas BBQ. I've had award winning championship Texas BBQ before and have been spoiled ever since. I've gone everywhere looking for it around town but it just wasn't right. Then I saw this place and had to try it. I tried the brisket, ribs, pulled pork and this is it! It's all tender and smokey like it's supposed to be. Look at the pink smoke ring on the brisket! They don't go overboard with too many items so they focus on quality. Staff is friendly and quick to help you. New addition. They have breakfast burritos. I got the chorizo, sausage, bacon. I forgot to take a picture of the bacon one because I was soo hungry. They have a choice of flour or corn. They sell out fast. Got a brisket plate with double cowboy beans. Always fresh and tasty.

Purchased a breakfast “burrito “ which was not a burrito but more like a chorizo soft taco. Was not worth the price and hardly any meat. Will not go back

Brisket was leather, not juicy or tender at all. Macaroni and cheese was laughable, looked like it was from a box. Potato salad was just fine. Customer service was rude and couldn't care less -- on their phone not paying attention while I was asking questions. All of this for over $20 and I am not a return customer. Athens again struggles to cement a solid BBQ place like Fox Brothers. Go anywhere else.

$7.00 25 min wait for this brisket taco only. One and done for me. Response to owner response: Tortilla tasted prepacked. "Fresh" eggs, meaning what exactly, you scrambled two of them, awesome. Sorry if I'm not impressed with fresh jalapeno, not exactly hard to come by. I appreciate the time it takes to cook a brisket correctly and the truth is I would pay more for more food and less wait time, but 25 min for a single slice of brisket is not worth it.
