Lived here for about 6 months. Application process was smooth. Leasing company is quick to respond and they seem to care. Lawn and trash are taken care of dutifully. Apartments have older appliances but they seem to work just fine. Spacious rooms. Dog friendly. Community seems safe. Don’t hear my neighbors at all.

I've rented with Carriage House Realty going on 5 years between Shenandoah and St. Andrew's. The apartments are a bit dated compared to some of the other locations in Athens. That being said the communities are quiet, clean, and safe. The leasing office is quick to respond and they do everything they can to work with you on any issues. There's a reason the apartments are full every year.

What I disliked about Shenandoah apartments: (1) My apartment had an infestation of black mold. No matter how often I cleaned the tub, sink and commode in a couple of weeks the black mold would be back. (2) Tenants are allowed to keep pets. My upstairs neighbors kept several dogs in their unit. The dogs barked any time day or night when their owners were away. (3) Almost all the tenants owned dogs. Walk out of your unit and smell the over powering sent of dog urine. Also, the dogs defecating on the grass killed the grass. If you like dead grass and the odor of urine you’ll love these apartments. (4) The apartment management was unfriendly and difficult to deal with. If you want inflexible management you’ll love these guys and gals. (5) It took about six weeks for management to return my deposit once I moved out, but management wants the monthly rent paid on time or you will be charged a late fee. (6) Don’t expect to use your cell phone while inside your apartment. The reception is terrible if your lucky enough to get any reception at all. The poor reception is causes by the foil faced insulation in the apartments. Poor reception was not mentioned at the time I viewed the apartments. I guess management forgot to warn me (on purpose). (7) The units are all electric and are poorly insulated. Expect to pay about $200.00 or more on electric bills summer and winter. Athens Georgia is a college town, and as we all know college town landlords generally take advantage of students. Renter beware.

I've been staying here for 7months now, and I still love our apartment! The people in the leasing office are always pleasant and happy to help with any problems. The grass is well kept, and the neighborhood is clean despite the trash outside the dumpster.

The leasing agents were just terrible. The guy who showed us around wasn't very nice and the apartments from what little I was able to see were not all that great.
