After many trips to Murphy and staying at many places only once due to being unsatisfied with every place, we will be staying at River Cove again. The setting is a rustic farm-like homestead and was quite appealing to us. It gave us a good feeling and it has been the only place in the area that we were sad to leave. The surroundings were perfect being tucked amongst the trees. We had Cabin #4 which had a porch that was on the banks of the Nottely River and we spent every evening on it until it was dark. There were dozens of Canadian geese, a few mallards, otters and loads of fireflies in the evening. It was by far the most relaxing and serene place we have stayed at in the area. Our cabin had a quaint farmhouse appeal and was clean and comfortable. As far as management, Steve and his ground keepers kept the area very nice and all of them were very cordial. It was a very pleasant experience and we will certainly be staying again.

This is a great alternative to a traditional place to stay. I slept 15 feet from the Nottely River. The cabins are NOT brand new so don’t expect perfection but everything works fine. Rustic and Charming. Steve is a great owner/manager. I’ll be back to stay here again.

Clean, simple, friendly staff and helpful. I love the little saloon on the grounds to enjoy late night games or conversation with friends. The room was clean and the fire pit warm. Highly recommend. The staff even stocked our fire pit for us when we got back from being on river all day which we thought was kind.

Steve was the perfect host as usual. Peaceful yet close enough to get all the convinces. Highly recommended the BBq place just down the road on way into Murphy. Hope to go back very soon!!

Love it right on the river and has everything you need right there even has game's for the kids pool table basket Ball darts and a fire pit to do the s'mores on we will definitely stay here again

I stayed in cabin 3 for 3 nights and really wanted to love it. The view is beautiful and it is very peaceful. Steve met us when we pulled in & told us about the bar and game room. I had a chance to check out both. The game room is probably more fun during warmer months, so I didn’t spend much time there. The bar looks well stocked, however I’m not much of a drinker, but for future visitors, it’s cash only & looks like it has a variety of choices. The cabin is rustic. I saw before I booked that it had a new indoor hot tub & it did appear new. I didn’t use it because of the well water. It would be useful if there was a water filter. The cabin is not only dated, but very dingy, which is the reason for the 3 stars. The dishware smelled of mildew, so I had to wash anything I needed to use beforehand with bottled water I bought. The bathroom slopes down and is in need of repairs. The mattress was saggy & it appears to be old. Not even the towels were updated and my pillow smelled like a sweaty armpit. I think less money could be spent buying alcohol for the bar & used for towels, damp rid & some repairs. The cabin does have the basics; bar soap, shampoo/ conditioner, & a 1/2 a roll of paper towel. With some thought, a deep clean & a few repairs this would be a great little cabin.

Booked Cabin 1 for a "Girls Getaway". Rustic Cabins were AWESOME! They were spread out a good distance on the serene property. The place is so peaceful. Steve was a terrific host and is very personable. Available but not intrusive. Overall a GREAT experience! Booking again for the Holidays soon!

The cabin w asn't all it was let on to be. Owners were not hospitable. I'm a nurse and traveled to this area to help a client in a very remote location. I have a 16month old daughter that I hate to leave due to separation anxiety she already has been experiencing. I hired someone to come with me and brimg her so that I wouldn't be going a whole week without her. The owners charged extra because of the extra laundry? There were 2 beds present. Did they expect me to only use the one? The cabin was very shabby. Decorated in many different patterns. Nothing matched. The place was dead so once again I don't understand why they weren't overjoyed to accommodate my company who was paying them well above their worth. Upon leaving the trash was taken out and dishes were washed and put away. Owners still unhappy. Perhaps she didnt plan to clean them at all in between staff members. The game room was made to be a big deal. Turned out its screened in. 27 degrees is a little cold to enjoy the amenities. I will make sure I pass this experience on to everyone I know. Update.... I showed up with myself my baby and someone to watch her. Never a fourth person. Not sure where that even comes from. Was never given the option to pay for additional people. The company I worked for made the reservation. Like I said not hospitable hosts. Had they been they would have come to me with that information in the beginning. Not in response to my bad review,

Found this place on the internet searching for a place to stay in Murphy, NC. Read the reviews and booked it for myself and a friend in from California. So happy I did. 😊 We enjoyed our time here very much. Quiet, beautiful surroundings and we felt safe. Rustic cabin on the Nottley River was so much better than a room at a motel/hotel. Steve is a wonderful host. We didn't bring kids, but my little granddaughter would love it. Thank you Steve. 🌟

I just stayed four nights in cabin #3. It was so relaxing and nice! Everything is there that you need. The bed is extremely comfortable. The porch with rocking chairs is very relaxing right there on the river. Steve is the owner/host and does a very good job. The grounds are well kept. My brothers, who live locally, came and we enjoyed a couple beers in the whiskey shack. So fun!!
