I have visited several Athens area churches in the past, and One Hope is just different! This is a body of believers that desires to know God more closely and to live by His word daily. My husband and I have been blessed to serve in the growing youth and kids program. This church provides some amazing opportunities to serve and share the gospel right here in Athens and even abroad as well!

One Hope Church has been great for me and my faith journey! I asked God for a Church that goes by the bible and has intentional fellowship as a student at the University of Georgia, and God answered my prayer the very next day! One Hope Church is a local church based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The services are open and consist of worship music (a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary praise), a sermon (or message), followed by an open time to take the Lord's Supper. The church is organized like the early church with elders sharing teaching responsibilities. The focus is upon fulfilling the Great Commission: making new disciples and spreading the Gospel of Jesus to all corners of the world. The messages are straight from the Bible (they typically work straight through a book over the course of a month or so depending on the Book, with the message typically focusing on a chapter or passage). The advantage of this approach is two-fold: (a) the visitor/member will hear the entirety of the Word when attending regularly and (b) this helps prevent the selection of specific verses/passages to support a particular human perspective or omitting content which is important but challenging. Lastly, the community is quite diverse with people of various ages, ethnicities and nationalities. This is especially nice for students looking for peers, people looking for mentorship or any believer looking for Christian Fellowship in the Athens community.

I have been blessed to be a part of One Hope Church. My family and I have been attending over 12 years and we have seen consistency in following Jesus, reading the Bible, and being a community of believers who care for each other with the purpose of serving one another out of grateful hearts toward The Lord. I absolutely love being at this Church it’s so encouraging being in such a great community of believers encouraging one another and helping you grow in your walk with the lord. My family has been coming for a while now and have loved every minute of it! If you’re looking for a church where you can do life with other believers come join us!
