The North Oconee River Greenway in Athens, GA is a delightful and spacious path, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a refreshing bike ride. During my visit I was impressed by the well maintained surroundings and the sense of security provided by a police officer patrolling the area on a bicycle. Their presence will make the experience even more enjoyable for some visitors.

Visited the greenway in Athens today. Easy trail and flat for the most part. Some scenic views of the Oconee River and photo ops along the way. Trails took about an hour and a half from end-to-end. Maybank Media 7 #atlmediapro

Finally open! Could be longer. Greenway plan shows it will go all the way along river to make a loop along Firefly trail (will connect to section by Wafflehouse). Trailhead here has parking for 4 or 5 cars. [Edit 11-16-22] now connects all the way to North Oconee Access Rd off College Station

Beautiful Trail. Great view of fall foliage and the river. Smooth walking surface. Dog friendly. Benches and lookouts. Open sunrise to sunset

It is a nice paved path. The greenery is nice but it isn't really awe inspiring. IDK wasn't bad but wasn't great either.

Nice new trail, really wide, super clean, slight smell of sewage, no homeless people. Hopefully it stays that way, minus the sewage smell.

Nice and clean walking and biking trails. Constantly improving and adding more trails every year.

This greenway does NOT connect to the Oconee Hill Cemetery Bridge. The bridge goes over the greenway and the greenway is completely fenced off from the cemetery bridge. This is not visible from Google Maps. If you're looking for a river crossing from the greenway, the cemetery bridge is not an option. Two thumbs down for that.

I love to go here for a piece of nature steps from downtown.

Love this trail because it's near our house. It's fairly short (probably only 1/2 mile), though the plan is to add more greenway at some point. There's an overlook to the river where we often see turtles and a blue heron.
