McCormick Travel has been our agency for Cruise vacations ( approx 10 cruises per year) for 17years and up until about a month ago our agent Tracy was phenomenal! Her cruise Knowledge and professionalism was unmatched. A month ago the owner closed the Barrett Parkway office and fired Tracy ( notifying her clients prior to talking to Tracy herself). A very unprofessional way of doing things. The agent we were assigned to in not Cruise knowledgeable at All! We moved our 7 cruises to Tracy’s new agency. We cannot in good conscience deal with an agency that treats a longtime employee this way. I guess a 17 yr customer that has brought 20+ other customers to them is not important. With so many online great cruise agencies out there there is no need to deal with this company.

Julie is absolutely fantastic! My family has been going to her for years and me and wife now do the same. We have used Julie at McCormick Travel 3 times in the past year due to the amount of friends we know who use her and we could not be more happier. Two intentional trips (one from a honeymoon, one for an anniversary) and a cruise with 11 friends for a bachelor party later and Julie always finds the best options that work with our budget and timeline. My experience with McCormick Travel was extraordinarily frustrating. I wanted to take a very special family vacation – a cruise in Europe. Because I knew there would be many details to attend to for such a trip, I decided to use a travel agent. I work full time, my family is spread out, we had had a number of stressful events over the past year, and I wanted to just be able to relax and let a professional advise and organize for me. I was going somewhere I knew nothing about, and expected a travel agent to guide me. This did not happen. Except for booking the cruise – which was the easiest part and which I could have done myself – I got absolutely no help from Gina at McCormick Travel. Even then, I did not find out until way later, she did not do enough inquiry to know that I could not get the perk that the cruise was offering. I had to practically give her a step-by-step to figure out how to make this perk happen. In fact, at one point, I became so distressed, I emailed and called the owner of the agency, Bea McCormick, two times, and I got no response from her. I asked Gina to find air travel for us and said that we would fly out of a different US city if that were more affordable. She checked on nothing. As our departure date got closer and we still did not have plane tickets, I put an alert on several travel apps, and one day they all went off. I contacted Gina to find the fares for me and was told she did not use the apps. She did find a potential itinerary for me, but it departed too early for the cruise – something I would think she should know. And even then she did not look for the other members of my family. Several times she forwarded emails from the cruise line to me with little or no explanation or instruction, and each time I had to ask her to follow up. In some cases, I had to remind her that I had more than one reservation on the cruise. I got no advice on how to fill out the documents needed for the cruise or any tips on taking a cruise. When she was asked about what to do in each port, she said to take the cruise excursions. The cruise excursions are quite expensive. It was extremely upsetting to hear other passengers on the cruise describe what their travel agents had done for them to plan for the ports including providing vouchers and information about what to do and how to get around. I seethed at Gina each time I disembarked in a port and saw private tour guides holding up cards with passengers’ names on them to take them on individual – and much less expensive - tours. I asked about add-on trips before and after the cruise. She did not make any suggestions. When I decided which city I wanted to add on and asked her to plan an itinerary, she did not do that for me. All she had to say was that different people like to do different things. But she did not ask me what I like to do. To come into the city where we were departing for the cruise a day early, I had to instruct her each step of the way to make a hotel reservation, and then I ended up booking myself on Expedia. Essentially, I planned my entire trip myself and spent much more money than I should have. In addition, I believe I missed several points of interest along the way because I had to learn as I went around each city. Gina at McCormick Travel provided absolutely no professional guidance for my trip. Consider very carefully about using McCormick Travel for a cruise in particular. I found out the hard way that, if a travel agent books your cruise, you have to go through her for everything else related to the cruise. Since Gina had no initiative, this just added stress for me as I had to contact her each time I wanted something done and then had to walk her through it. It would have been more efficient if I had just done it myself. I did not get a bon voyage before my trip nor have I had a follow-up after my trip. McCormick Travel obviously did not care about me or my special family vacation. What a dismissive response. Yes, unfortunate and you obviously take no responsibility for my disappointment.

Travel can be very confusing if you don’t know what you’re doing and the fact it didn’t cost an extra fee for expert advice on where to stay and the best things to do makes it a no brainer to book through your local agents at Mccormick! Both Julie and Gina make a great team and make planning vacations FUN!
