I lived at the Mathis Apartments for two years, and it is hands down the best apartment complex in Athens! The apartments always felt safe, clean, and are located in one of the most convenient spots in town. Danielle, and everyone else at Mathis, always made sure our needs were met and were in constant communication with the residents. I can't say enough about this place!!

Would NOT recommend! Nothing was put on the walls and the apartment was left cleaner than we found it. They charged $500 for repairing/painting walls and a cleaning fee. This was a scam for them to make more money.

Beware of MOLD issues! Had to buy our own test to prove there was a mold problem before they would do anything about it. No compensation for all of the doctor bills in trying to find out what this life altering problem was….mold toxicity. Think twice before you live here.

We have been at The Mathis since its new opening in 2019/20. The property, unit, and management are all excellent. It sets itself apart from other Athens properties by attention to detail and a family like relationship with its tenants. Our daughter will graduate this year but her parents will not. I have no plans to ever terminate my lease. I cannot compliment the Mathis enough. The management could easily rely on location alone if they so wished but they do not. They care about the place and the people who live there. 5 stars all around.

My daughter leased an apartment this past school year at Mathis Apartments and I can truly say that not only was it a great experience for her, but her mother and I enjoyed it almost as much as she did. It was such a convenient place for her to get to her classes, and many of her activities. It was also a great place when we visited her to all walk together to enjoy a restaurant in Five Points or for my daughter and my wife to enjoy the shops located just within the Mathis Apartments complex. The management (Danielle) was great, and it felt like a safe area to me as well. If you’re looking for something close to the campus and convenient to the shopping and restaurants of Five Points, I couldn’t recommend Mathis Apartments highly enough.

not worth it. we lived there for 4 years. we would have gotten out sooner if they would give you more time to NOT resign your lease. starting in october they ask you to resign, and it’s nearly impossible to have another place lined up by then. we didn’t want to risk not having a place to live the following year so we kept resigning until we finally had enough. the apartments are cute. but they’re dirty, the paint is cheap and chips constantly, the walls and floors are thin so you can hear literally everything your neighbors do. the windows are original to the building and are not sealed whatsoever. bugs get in year round. the fire alarm goes off at least once a month and everyone evacuates the building waiting for it to turn off. (despite the fire department being literal blocks away, it takes 10-15 minutes every time.) the power goes out often. the bathroom wall paint peels SO MUCH no matter what we do. it looks disgusting. we had it repainted and it just started peeling again. we had mold on the kitchen ceiling and they painted over it. the air conditioner breaks every summer. even when it did work, our apartment consistently hit 80+ degrees in the summer time. the parking is crap. the businesses take up all the parking and they rarely enforce resident/business parking. (unless it’s a game day) you’re lucky to get to park near the entrance to your building. on game day weekend, if you have guests over they aren’t allowed to park in the parking lot. EVEN if you ask for a guest pass in advance. despite the lease ending july 20, they make you pay for the entire month of july while at the same time asking you to leave early so they can get the next tenant in. (even if you move out early they still don’t prorate your rent). we kept our keys until the last day of our lease, and went in on july 20 to do one last walk through of our apartment and they were ALREADY in there repainting. mind you, we had barely been out a week and we went to check if anything else needed cleaning. we didn’t tell them it was empty. they didn’t call and ask. the lease was still valid, we still had our keys, and they had already been in there for who knows how long. the absolute least they could do was call and ask if they could enter. they had no way of knowing it was empty unless they just went ahead and entered without our permission. (which they did) speaking of the lease ending, we received no instructions whatsoever from management on move-out instructions and had to ask our neighbor to forward the instructions to us. there was no communication at all. all of this being said, the one bedroom apartments are TINY and WAY too expensive for what you actually get. the cockroaches, millipedes and stink bugs are horrible. we even had a lizard in our kitchen once. the power bill is insane if you run the AC on a regular basis. i couldn’t wait to get out of there. do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Best apartment I’ve lived in Athens! It’s close to restaurants, coffee shops, and campus. It’s also safe and great for pets. The management (Danielle) is awesome! It’s rare for me to write a 5 star review, but I had a great experience living here. This is a top apartment complex in Athens, especially if you have classes on South Campus, you can’t beat the walkability.

The best living situation I have ever had in Athens! I have lived all over the Athens area and this has by far been my favorite. The area, the management, the unit were all perfect! Maintenance came quick if anything needed fixing and the property manager was the kindest and most attentive! Can’t say enough great things! On top of that, it was a great space for my pup to have friends and a clean area to live in!

The best place to live in Athens! Danielle (management) made everything so easy: from moving in, maintenance, moving out, to everything in between. She was always available through text. You can’t beat the location, especially if you have classes on South Campus, take the bus, or if you just love 5 points. Couldn’t recommend this place more!!

This is an awesome apartment for college students or recent grads. It’s close to so many great places to eat and hangout, and the management staff is responsive and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to live near campus and enjoy Athens.
