Searching for an ELCA Lutheran Church in Georgia can be a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack, but this one is very nice, in Athens. Has all the usual amenities (friendly ushers, organized pews, grape juice and wine for communion, etc.) Also wheelchair accessible. I liked the two projectors with the song lyrics and the childrens portion was fun. Its a small church but very comfortable.

This was my church home for 26 years, and I loved being there. The pastor who served for 18 of those years was the absolute gold standard; he is retired now, and I don't know the current pastor. Several Lutheran denominations exist; Holy Cross is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Over the years, the ELCA changed in doctrine and practice in ways that I could not affirm. My disagreement with the denomination led me to leave for a congregation of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod about three years ago. Not infrequently, though, I still wish I could go home.
