High Falls State Park easily earned its 5-star rating during our recent autumn visit—it truly did not disappoint. This park is a fantastic destination, offering great scenery, spacious camping, and surprising opportunities for fun. The natural landscape here is stunning, anchored by a superb network of hiking paths. The trails are excellent, following the rushing river and climbing the surrounding hills, which makes for both peaceful nature walks and satisfying exercise. The absolute highlight of our stop was the unexpected fun provided by the park. During our visit, they hosted a fall scavenger hunt. While it seemed designed for younger visitors, we jumped in anyway and had an absolute blast! It was a brilliant, interactive way to explore the park and was the most memorable part of our entire trip. The campground itself is nice and wonderfully spacious. We noted that it is separated from the main park attractions, located just across the street. While the split is a little strange at first, it's very easy to navigate and ensures the camping area remains peaceful. High Falls is a must-visit for anyone looking for beautiful trails, clean facilities, and maybe even a fun little adventure!

High Falls State Park is truly stunning! The natural beauty here is breathtaking—from the rushing falls to the peaceful walking trails, it’s the perfect place to relax, explore, and take in the scenery. We didn’t camp or rent any equipment, so I can’t speak to those amenities, but just visiting the park itself was well worth the trip. One tip for visitors: the “souvenir” store across the street is actually two small buildings that mostly sell vape products, cigarettes, alcohol, and have gambling machines. It smells strongly of cigarettes and really isn’t a souvenir shop, so I’d recommend skipping it and enjoying the park instead. Overall, the park itself is beautiful, clean, and absolutely worth a visit!

First time here and stayed 3 nights at site 18. Hiked the trails and Tranquility & Falls trails are not for the faint of heart! Beautiful foliage and places to stop along the way. Dog friendly. Lots of campers had dogs. Very clean and well maintained with several bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Some of the camp sites are rather close to each other, so if that’s a negative for you, be sure to pay attention to that when booking. Nice playground for kiddos and several open areas for kids to run around. Many brought bikes. Close to several towns for restaurants. Dollar General right outside the campground. Cute little store in the park has some basics. Campground has a gate with a gate code. Only negative— internet is non existent and no sewer hookups at the site.

We loved it. We took our 4 kids, ages 6-11, and they had no trouble keeping up on the trails. The views of the falls were beautiful! The office staff were friendly and helpful, and the office restrooms were clean and well cared for. Great place for a picnic, hike, or just to sit and enjoy the sound of the falls.

My partner and I rented an RV and drove through Georgia from Florida and stopped at many state parks. High Falls State Park was on our list and let me tell you it is beautiful, lots of trails , shops and some food places near by. The people were very helpful and kind anywhere we went. We stayed at the campgrounds there and were very pleased with our stay. The campgrounds were clean, so were the bathrooms. We camped out there with our dog, made a fire, grilled burgers and had an amazing night. There are park rangers who drive by here and there , which made us feel safe knowing they were keeping eyes on things. The park is also gated with a code, a plus. We had trouble with our RV window we could not get to close due to it being out the frame and 2 park rangers named John and Johnny were driving around the park saw us struggling. They stopped and offered their help. They were able to quickly help with the issue and were just so kind! Shout out to them two!! Hope to see them again when we come back to visit. If you’re looking for a peaceful, safe fun time, please stop here! We would definitely come back again!

🌿 Beautiful park with a stunning waterfall! The grounds are well-kept with picnic tables, built-in grills, and scenic walking trails. There’s even a gift shop for snacks and drinks—though the selection is limited and prices are high, it supports the park and their wonderful staff who keep everything so clean and welcoming. Entry and parking are free, and kayaking is allowed in designated areas. 🏞️💧🧺🚶♀️🛍️ #Park #Waterfall #Trails #GiftShop #Kayaking

Camped in site 110 for 2 nights, loop closest to the Falls and walks. Not much privacy or wooded setting, more like camping in a city park. Arrived on a Saturday and it was extremely busy with people everywhere. Enjoyed the 3 different trails with mention to know.. the 1.5 mile walk is STRENUOUS and definitely challenged us. No getting in the water anywhere, signs everywhere. The check in process was fast and friendly with a very nice gift shop- tshirt, magnet and stickers. We needed last minute supplies and walked to the dollar general, did not walk in the general store/gas station across the street due to looked gross and smelled of old alcohol in the parking lot. Enjoyed our visit but probably won’t make the 7 hour drive back…

This state park was easy to access from I-75. It is divided into two separate campgrounds (The River on the south side of the road and The Lake on the north side of the road). Make sure you check in before heading to your campsite because the campground is gated and you’ll probably need a code to open the gate (at least at the river side). When you check in and are coming from I-75, pass the River campground on your right and then make your next left. The campground offers boating, fishing, and hiking. The trails on both sides of the river offer views on the river. The west side trail is ADA accessible (park off the road leading to the River Campground) whereas the east side trail is not but offers but and closer views of the falls. The bathhouses were clean and well maintained by the campground hosts. The bathhouses have a washer and dryer ($2.00-2.50 for the washer and $2.00 for the dryer). There are no full hooks but there is a dump station. You are close to towns for fuel, food, and supplies. We went to Forsyth which was a small, walkable town. If you visit, check out Fox City Brewing and Jonah’s on Johnston.

I've been coming here camping since I was a child. So 40 years of this amazing place. It's beautiful, serene and the most perfect place to camp with family or friends!

Staff was very rude, did not welcome us when we walked in and acted offended when I asked a question, everything in the gift shop was extremely over priced as well. So we left and just went to the other side of the park. It was a very beautiful area, and the trails were very interesting. However, it was very hot and no swimming was allowed. Definitely would be some nice hiking in the fall/spring. We would have explored more because the park is rather large, but we were just passing through, and I did not see any rangers to talk to that would have offered some suggestions , just glad it was only $5 to get in.
