Georgia Options provides a valuable service, and the people they support truly benefit from living in their own homes with dedicated caregivers. Unfortunately, my experience working there showed me why the organization struggles to grow and why turnover stays so high. During my time on staff, I watched hard-working employees pushed to the limit while positions were constantly emptied and refilled. Workloads piled up because so many people left, and the culture made it difficult for employees to feel secure or supported. Consistency is crucial for the individuals we served, yet the revolving door of staff made that nearly impossible. Communication and transparency were ongoing challenges. Meetings and decisions often felt closed-off, and staff were frequently left without clear information or follow-through on promises. Raises and recognition didn’t match the level of responsibility or the emotional toll of the job, which made it even harder for people to stay long-term. Georgia Options has been around for decades, and the mission is important. But in my experience, the internal culture held the organization back far more than the work itself. The clients deserve stability, and the employees deserve a workplace where they can grow, feel respected, and know their jobs are secure. Until those issues are addressed, the high turnover and constant strain will continue.

Our son has been supported by Georgia Options for 20 years. He is living his Best adult life! He has a part time job, delivers Meals on Wheels & takes horseback riding lessons. His support staff are his extended family. They know & understand our son & do ALL they can to make life fun & interesting. We are forever grateful for this wonderful, quality care!!
