We recently stayed at a charming 2-bedroom, 1-bath cottage inside this beautiful state park, and it was everything we hoped for. The cottage was well-maintained, with a spacious screened-in porch. Outside, we had our own picnic table and fire pit. Whether you’re into hiking, fishing, kayaking, or just soaking up the scenery, there’s something for everyone. Trails were well-marked, the lake was serene, and the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time. Highly recommend this spot for those looking for a peaceful getaway with plenty to do.

Enjoyed swimming in the shallow swimming areas. Not too crowded. The beach sand is combed or raked each day so the beach is very clean and beautiful. Also enjoyed hiking the trail around the lake starting from the beach all the way to the ranger’s station or park shop. They have a display of some local animal furs, skulls, and some fresh mushrooms they just picked. Very educational.

Fort Yargo State Park is a wonderful mini getaway option! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed! Admission into the park was extremely affordable ($5 for my vehicle) as well as rentals! The bathrooms were tidy and there were so many things to do while on the premises (golfing, the beach, hiking, biking, tennis, picnicking & so much more)! The new renovations were exceptional! I highly recommend giving this state park a visit! You won’t be disappointed! ☀️

Beautiful state park with many trails winding around the lake with fairly easy hiking or biking. There is a $5 entrance fee to park. I found the facilities clean and well maintained. Noticed several nice playgrounds. Camping and picnic areas areas are plentiful, and the beaches were clean. Also, a gift shop with snacks and ice cream. A wonderful park for all ages and can't wait to visit again with fishing gear! Boat ramp, cabins also available.

This is my sanctuary. I've been going here for years. It's cheaper to get the annual pass. If you do, you can get into all Georgia state parks for free with that same pass. It's $25 dollars for seniors; $50 for regular folks. The hiking/biking trails are rooty, but my 70yr MIL walks it just fine. Most, but not all the bikers are courteous to he hikers. [The general rule is bikers yield to hikers. There are signs posted on the trails]. No motorized boats on the resovoir, except for tiny fishing boats with a tiny motor— it's mostly kayaks, canoes, and rowboats on the reservoir. The reservoir isn't deep. The deepest point is by the dam averaging about 24ft, the majority of the lake is between 3 ft to 15 ft. The reservoir is calm, smooth water with a small current. Is there are plenty of restrooms at all the campgrounds and at the beach. Depending on which side of reservoir you're on, and which trail you take, there may be a long walk between restrooms, so bring tissue (Go off trail please). Want to treasure hunt? Many of us natives leave tokens for people to find. Happy Yargoing.

Spent the weekend here for my son’s 2nd birthday. The view, the beach, the pear trees -everything was beautiful. This was our first time camping. It was definitely an interesting experience. From raccoons sneaking around our tent, sounds of the water bubbling, branches falling and snapping, to hearing people say they saw someone in the woods then disappeared🥶😅. The bathrooms at the beach were clean, but not at the campsites. Despite the rain all weekend, we still enjoyed ourselves and will be back soon!

Trailer camped there three days. Enjoyed hiking the variety of trails. Many mountain bikers do as well. May have been a special event, but beach area was at max capacity Saturday, could not approach. Picnic areas were in heavy use as well. Locals make good use of this beautiful park on weekends. Will visit here again, but will shoot for midweek.

We love living near a state park! We've fished here alot and had group picnics. Family has camped here while visiting us! We get our moneys worth on the annual pass.

The lot #4 that we rented was nice for a 1 year old Birthday 🎂 Party. But we all had to walk up a steep hill & it was hard for the elderly people. We had access to a BBQ grill but we brought a extra one due to cooking a lot of food 🍔🌭 & we was told that we would have access to the restrooms & they was locked & we had about 40 people or more 🚻😳🚼 We also had access to the lake, several people went fishing 🎣 The lake was pretty. On the way out a few of us stopped at the gift shop.
