Cheba hut had some great food. I got the Italian sub and my wife got the bbq chicken sub. Both were amazing. We were taken aback by all the weed references, but we didn’t even look online to check it out. It was a neat place with good food so I would say check it out, but don’t be surprised when it doesn’t look like jimmy johns. Its not supposed to. Great subs. We will be back.

This was our first time eating here. The employee who took our order was so sweet. The sandwiches were incredible. The pretzel bites were steamy and well-seasoned. Everything was hot and fresh. If we hadn't been on a budget, I would have torn up half the menu. The atmosphere is lively, appealing to its very Millennial and Gen Z base. Everything is clean. The people are friendly. I've got zero complaints.

In town to visit UGA and stopped in before heading out of town. The service was very friendly, the atmosphere was cool, and the food was great. If I were a local I would definitely frequent this place.

When it comes to subs in Athens, Chēba Hut is the only game in town—and it’s a winner. We ducked out of the football game when the rain started pouring and ended up here, and honestly, the weather did us a favor. I grabbed the La Canna, and this wasn’t just a sandwich—it was an experience. The bread was perfectly crisp and chewy, the toppings balanced and fresh, and every bite felt like a celebration. Also, the garlic cheese bread is unbelievable. That marinara Tho... To quote the illustrious Tracy Jordan: “I love this sandwhich so much, I wanna take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant.” That about sums it up. Great subs, cool vibe, friendly staff. Whether you’re celebrating a Dawgs win or drying off from a rain delay, this is hands down the best sub spot in Athens.

Went around 5 PM and ordered Apollo 13 and Pakalolo and then went to the bar counter to get beer but the two bartenders had their backs turned towards the counter and were busy discussing. The person who took our sandwich order spoke to the bartenders and told us that they are not serving drinks between 5 - 7 PM because the bartender's shift is over, and the next bartender comes only at 7 PM. While we were having our sandwiches (which were really good by the way), another group of customers came, ordered a pitcher of beer and to my surprise, got served by the same bartender. I went back to the bar and asked why my order wasn't taken even though I was there before the other group, and the bartender said that their shift was over, that they didn't see me, and pitcher of beer was their last order! When I requested that all I need is a beer, the bartender refused to serve me. Quite frustrating. They should have a sign that clearly mentions their service hours at the bar, and the bartenders and the sandwich counter people should have better communication. Not visiting this establishment anytime soon.

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I’m a bit salty they don’t have homemade fries. Now let’s talk about the subs. Chicken is jam packed with flavor, the bread stays toasted fresh never soggy & there is options (white, garlic & wheat), open late plus they have a bar and they make treats fresh daily (rice crispy, cereal bars/balls & cookies). We ate dine-in & grabbed an alcoholic bev. The decor is laid back surfer tiki vibes, bright and colorful.

I got to tell you, this was one heck of a sandwich. The deli meats seem superior to most franchise sub shops. The bread was fantastic. The toppings were all delicious. They have a real wide range in terms of variety of toppings andmeats. Sweat tea was spot on. There were a couple things that made me think twice before giving them a five star rating. Number one, I ordered double meat, and if I had not, I believe the meat portion would’ve been a little light compared to a lot of sub shops. Secondly, I don’t get all of the cannabis references. It kind of makes it tough for a dad to take his preteen or teenage kids. Not sure that’s best for their business. But anyway…

One of the best subs I’ve ever had. We got the Midwest Best (club) and I would highly recommend it. The homemade bread made the sandwich. We’ll be back with friends.

So they were slammed with it being game night AND a concert around the corner but the food came out quick and delicious. Fast service. I loved the stoner atmosphere too! Edited to add: saw the owners reply. Even almost a year later my mouth waters thinking about these subs 😂 subway who??
