I’m always grateful when my schedule allows me to stop by Birdies. The ability to purchase condiments, meats and cheeses from around the world in such a peaceful atmosphere is a treat. I want to branch out, but their roast beef sandwich is my stand-by and it always beckons. It’s fantastic. Being able to purchase Independent Bakery breads without another stop is a plus too. I consistently have pleasant and helpful interactions with the staff and always feel nurtured after my visits. The small business environment is tough these days, with tariff insanity adding to the pressure. Birdies is an oasis and Athens is fortunate to have it!

I go there weekly for a cafe latte sprinkled with cinnamon it's awesome. One only minor issue can you get Splenda or Sweet in low. You only have Stevia and regular sugar. Overall great place and latte.

Mediocre at best. Did not have skim milk and nothing special on the lattes. Bacon and egg croissant was not bad. Pastries looked store bought and dried out and not much selection either. Most disappointed in the time it took to get our drinks. Not sure exactly what the young woman behind the counter was doing but she was in no hurry to make our drinks. She was chatting with another employee and only started on our drinks when we went to the counter to see what was taking so long. If you are in a hurry don’t go here!

My only disappointment at Birdie’s is when they run out of turkey, because their turkey sandwich is absolutely mouthwatering. And don’t get me started on the coffee ice cream… you’ll want three more pints the second you taste it. Some students have complained because Birdie’s asks that tables be used for people actually dining. Honestly, that’s just good business sense. It’s not fair to expect a local shop to survive while entire tables are taken up by laptops, coffee, and water refills. Grab your coffee to-go and enjoy the park at the Triangle instead! Don’t let a few negative voices fool you: Birdie’s is a gem. Their selection of fine cheeses and charcuterie is incredible, and their lunch menu is truly a thing of beauty. Support this local treasure, and you’ll quickly see why so many of us love it.

Honestly over priced and disappointing. Not worth going here. The staff stand around and gossip, with very obvious attitude and anger from the guy in the back with red hair, tall and skinny. They constantly helped themselves to the pastries leaving limited options for actual customers. Negative attitude, mediocre food, and over priced. I don’t expect them to last long in Athens. Just another “owner” way in over their head. Don’t go here and waste your money for a small sandwich with a tiny pickle and no drink. Also from reading the reviews, it seems the owner likes to make unprofessional, nasty comments back and then delete them. What a joke.

I cannot recommend this place enough! It is my go to when I want to feel at peace with a cozy cup of coffee in hand. The coffee is the best in Athens hands down with bold and rich flavors. The food is also exceptional with highest of quality ingredients. No coffee shop I’d rather be:)

I was really excited to try this restaurant because I know kind people work there. After spending some time looking over the menu, we decided to go there for brunch. I’m normally a big city bread regular but it was a nice day so we decided to try Birdies and grab a bite and sit outside. I was a bit shocked by the price point but having seen the photos of the food I decided to bite the bullet. Two sandwiches and two coffee drinks set us back $50. The cashier brought out the drinks and unfortunately stumbled on the way out, spilling a quarter of the americano. They apologized but didn’t offer to do anything else, and feeling compassionate we didn’t press for it either. When the sandwiches came, they were underwhelming to say the least. The portions were a lot smaller than anticipated for the price point. Unfortunately we made a pact to give it some time before going back. We very much want to support local businesses and it hurts me to leave a straight forward review but my hope is the feedback is taken to heart in a productive way. It felt like the staff was warm but they were having to do the best with what they had to work with. The food was tasty but didn’t fill us up for the price point. Honestly when eating out at that price point we typically have a little to spare so it was just a bit of a bummer. Wishing this business the absolute best, and the door isn’t closed forever to coming back. By the way, the coffee was delicious, and although the ingredient portions were off, the food when adjusted was also good. The food just didn’t match the portions shown in the photos online, unfortunately.

Birdies is a dream: great espresso drinks, skilled baristas, super friendly staff. The market has an amazing selection of unique accoutrements, many local! Normaltown location is trendy and fun.

Came in for a late breakfast (10am) and the barista on staff was really nice and super chill about us being a bit sleepy and needing a sec before ordering. Vibes were really nice and food and drinks were good!

One of my favorite places to walk to for coffee! The baristas always have a bright smile.
