The best thing about this place is that it always has been marked by the presence of God. My family and I have served in several different ways in nearly two decades of attending, and we’re very thankful that Athens Church is here in town fulfilling its mission: to love Jesus and help others do the same.

Athens Church helped reshape the direction of my life! 7 years ago I knew absolutely nothing about Jesus. The doors were wide open, and I came in with all my questions. God met me there and brought me into such a rich, deep community of believers that came alongside me and journeyed with me as I grew in my understanding of who Jesus is and what the cross meant for my life. Yes, it is a big church. Yes, the church can be misunderstood. Yes, there is a big auditorium with bright lights. But there are countless opportunities to get involved, step into a small group, and learn about Jesus, regardless of what your background is, what you believe in, or where you're at in life. Constantly thanking God for this church!

My family and I have been part of Athens Church for over ten years, and we love it. We’re grateful for the unique ministry environments designed for every age group, the opportunities to serve, and the life-changing impact small groups have had on our faith and our marriage. My life has truly been transformed through these relationships, and I look forward to Sundays, even better, so does my whole family! If you’re looking for a place where you can come as you are and grow in your relationship with Jesus, this is the place! Come and see what God is doing at Athens Church!

I’ve been attending Athens Church for a while now and have even recommended it to many of my friends and peers, encouraging them to come as well. However, after today’s service (10/05/25), I don’t think I will be returning. During the sermon, the pastor made a very disturbing reference to Erika Kirk, referring to her as a “good Christian.” I don’t believe church should be a place where political figures are upheld as moral examples especially someone like Erika Kirk, considering the harmful ideals often associated with her late husband (may he rest in peace). Neither of them represents what a “good Christian” stands for, as their words and actions have often reflected hate, racism, homophobia, and hypocrisy among others. That is not what Christ’s love is about. As a person of color and a Christian, I no longer feel welcome. Very disappointing.

I moved to Athens about a year ago from out of state and began attending Athens Church and have loved it so much. It’s a larger church with wonderful music and people, live preaching and numerous smaller communities to get involved in. My child loves their kids ministry and the leaders have loved on him so well! We love Athens church and recommend anyone searching give it a try!

Me and my family have attended Athens church for over 3 years. We love it here. The worship music is awesome and the kids programs are great. The kids run in the building excited. They're so many opportunities to serve and be apart of God family.

I have attended this church for 13 years. It has been there for me in the highs and the lows of my life. It has numerous quality resources to accommodate people from many walks of life who wish to explore church. Some critique the church - but usually for a lack of understanding of the Church’s mission and calling. Please come try Athens Church!

My husband and I relocated here from the Midwest three years ago, and let me tell you, finding this church was an absolute blessing! The teachings here are not only practical but also deeply rooted in the word of God. The lead pastor's passion for God and for those seeking Christ is truly inspiring.

Athens Church was the first place we visited when we moved to town and we felt welcome from the first time we walked thru the door. The leadership shows genuine care and concern for the community and that spirit trickles down to the staff and even the volunteers. If you’re looking for a church where you can be yourself, get connected outside of Sunday mornings, and grow spiritually, definitely give it a try!

Moved to Athens, GA about a year ago. Found Athens Church about a month after moving and was immediately plugged into a group, found community, and felt like Sunday mornings were simple again. If you’re searching for a church or new to faith, join me!
