40 Watt Club is probably the worst "legendary" venue in Georgia, the sound is always hit or miss and they always give a terrible deal to local bands whether they are from Athens or Atlanta. They always cater the most to out of town acts and spend most of their time promoting those shows. The only upside to this place is the kind souls working the bar who try to help you have a good night. I would rather play or go see a show at any other venue in Athens, literally any other one. That alone should say a lot about the abomination this place has become, there is nothing "legendary" left to this place. If you're gonna hold yourself to such a high standard then do better.

Great "college town" concert venue. Sound was great. Don't get anything but beer, if you are drinking, we had a couple cocktails that were terrible, but they have a fully stocked bar.

Great venue for live music. Not much seating, so as long as you can stand on your feet for a couple of hours. Bartenders were great.

When I arrived at the venue there was an issue with my tickets, the manager I believe his name is Jim came out and pulled me aside to explain that I was scammed by a reseller and that my tickets weren’t valid. He was so exceptionally kind and spoke to me for several minutes, empathized with me, explained in detail what happened, and put mine and my friends name on the guest list and told us to enjoy the show. My experience could have been soured but Jim totally made my day. The bartenders were also very cool, and best drink prices I’ve seen at a venue in years. 🫢

Incredible venue, its an integral part of the Athens music scene and hosts local legends and well as local come ups. The venue has cool decor, clean restrooms, awesome and kind staff, reasonably priced drinks, and good AC. Tickets are usually between $10-$20 and the bands are usually awesome. They also have a coat check during cold months. There is no parking attached to the venue, but plenty of street parking.

Nice place. Saw plini and strawberry girls live here and it sounded fantastic. I was a front of house sound engineer for live bands for over 30 years, so when I say I was impressed by the sound, it's not just a flippant comment. Nice bar with wide selection of beverages. Will definitely return
