I wanted to have a good experience with my prenatal care here beginning in late 2023, but I feel the need to write this honest review for any other young first time moms seeking care. I was optimistic at first, because the staff is polite. In fact, the only time an employee had been blatantly impolite, it was a tech named Brianna who performed two of my ultrasounds, and I assumed I was just sensing a lack of bedside manner. (This is still something to work on when you're working with such an emotionally vulnerable population though!) After only two appointments, I'd realized how disorganized it is. Sometimes I'd wait 2-3 hrs just to be seen. I spent the remainder of my pregnancy being thrown around to a different midwife at every appointment and re-explaining my entire medical history as if they had no access to my medical chart. Many of my symptoms were dismissed by the midwives as they'd say "that could be normal." That seems to be common at this practice based on other reviews from women with traumatic birth experiences. I get it, pregnancy can be unpredictable but if they had bothered to look into those symptoms, it could have helped my baby and I. A lot of these signs and symptoms lead to a condition requiring an urgent c-section. I like to believe everything happens for a reason so I don't blame anyone, however; I do feel like my pregnancy was overlooked due to having a different midwife at every appointment. None of the midwives I had met were there accompanying the surgeon when my baby was born, I was surrounded by strangers during the scariest moment of my life. I was also told to google it when I asked how to massage my c-section scar at my last checkup, and laughed off when I mentioned holding off on an epidural unless medically necessary at an earlier appointment (we weren't originally planning a c-section, ours was urgent.) I dealt with severe nausea, hyperemesis, severe heartburn, and sudden swelling that came on one week before my c-section. I brought all of it to the provider's attention and was dismissed every time. I think they dismissed my concerns due to my age and believing I was less educated due to this being my first baby. I had attended nursing school and have been trained by many women in this field, and this is not how you treat patients, it's almost neglectful. My baby and I deserved better care. I hope things turn around at WHA!

I love WHA, especially the midwives, and especially Meredith. I’ve had an amazing experience with them through my pregnancies and would trust no one else to help take care of me during the most traumatic and amazing moments of my life. They are kind, gentle, and thorough. One midwife manually (and successfully!) turned my breeched baby (an ECV), who had been head down when I first arrived during my labor. I see Meredith annually now, and it always feels like catching up with an old friend, who knows my health issues and also saved me from one of the most excruciating issues I had post-pregnancy. Highly recommend the practice.

This practice and specifically, Sandi Hayes, caused me great harm. I asked her several times about my low libido during two different appointments. She told me, when it comes to women, low libido is psychological, without testing or differential diagnosis. As a result, I started exploring whether or not I was actually attracted to my husband. I didn’t want to have sex with him and so we got divorced. Had she not disregarded my symptoms and taken me seriously, she would have explored the obvious diagnosis of perimenopause. Sandi Hayes cost me my marriage, stability, and sanity. It’s atrocious what she and other so-called women’s health practitioners do with their uneducated privilege. Do not trust your health or your life to this practice.

After birth, I was displayed a visibly torn placenta, had a postpartum hemorrhage, signs of hypovolemia, and I was blown off completely by this care team, told repeatedly it could all be normal. I continued to have intermittent abnormal bleeding, and was told it could be normal, still. No diagnostic testing was done on me, regardless of my asking. After I went home to develop an infection and further abnormal bleeding, I was finally given an ultrasound upon another ED admission which led to an emergency D&C. I had another hemorrhage after this release, at this point suffering life-threatening complications, and was advised it was most likely a returning period. I had an arterial hemorrhage and had to actively bleed before provider’s eyes a fourth time in the hospital upon a voluntary admission before a CT scan was ever ordered. I was then sent to emergency surgery for an embolization, and was counseled on having no more children during this surgery. I had to have blood transfusions, iron infusions throughout these stays, and I still see a hematologist to this day to treat severe anemia complications. I gave birth in November of 2024. But thanks to my vigilance, self-education and advocation for myself, refusing to take no for an answer, I finally had the imaging I needed all along and emergency surgeries and survived the ordeal. I deserved a better postpartum experience and care, and so do you, so be warned if you go to this office and experience serious complications. You will have to advocate for yourself over and over and over to get any kind of diagnostic testing ordered, and that shouldn’t be your battle as a patient in the care of an OBGYN specialist when your focus should be on your recovery and new baby. I also discovered numerical charting errors which incorrectly documented blood loss after birth, and the providers refused to add amendments to correct it after admitting it was an error (I have proof of them admitting this was an error, so their response is a complete lie- and we all know how “internal investigations” go), and then formally dismissed me as a patient after my formal requests for amendments were denied. I would not trust this practice to do the right thing for you, and especially in a state like Georgia where women have fewer protections while pregnant and need advocates more than ever. Go where you will be heard and prioritized.

I’m 28 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have been seeing the midwives at WHA my whole pregnancy. Every single staff member and provider I have interacted with at WHA have been so kind, patient, and helpful at every appointment. I never feel embarrassed to ask questions. I would recommend WHA and the midwives 100%!

I’m no stranger to doctor’s offices; I’m very sick and have been for years, so I’ve seen the best of the best and the worst of the worst. I can undoubtedly say that Dr. Hart is among the best. I came to this practice a bit terrified as I had been left out to dry from my last women’s group. Dr. Hart truly took the time to not only address my immediate medical concerns as it related to the issue at hand, but she got to know me as a person. I didn’t feel as if I was trying to be rushed out of the door as if m concerns didn’t matter. I felt as if she truly cared about my health and me and wanted the best outcome and would do all that we could to get there. When something didn’t work, we’d try something else. If I had a question about something, she’d explain (in detail) everything about it. Nothing was left unsaid or unasked by the end of the appointment which is something that’s lacking in today’s healthcare system. I truly cannot say enough positive things about this practice or Dr. Hart. Thanks for making me feel valued!

I unfortunately did not have a great experience with this office. It was highly recommended by a couple friends so I wanted to give them a try and had high hopes. I used this office for my pregnancy all of 2024. It was extremely difficult to get an appt, they definitely over book patients. I also called more than once during this pregnancy and left a voicemail but never got a call back (one was for a yeast infection and another to try to get some medication after my c-section). The final straw for me was when I had my 6 week appointment (after having baby) scheduled over a month in advance and they called me 3 days beforehand to say it needed to be rescheduled. They couldn’t get me in again though until week 9. So I went ahead and canceled completely and didn’t even get a final checkup after having my c-section. I don’t typically leave reviews but I feel like I did not receive the care I should have due to the office having way too many patients.

I am a FTM and started going to this office when I first found out I was pregnant. I have found everyone to be very respectful and kind at this office. I knew immediately I wanted a midwife for my labor and delivery. I loved Dr. Allen when I would do my visits at the office but when I started seeing the midwives, I really liked all the ladies who saw me (I think I met four of their midwives). I gave birth a little over a week ago, and Hannah Turner was my midwife at the hospital. She was amazing to work with and a great coach, particularly during the delivery. I had a completely unmedicated birth (no epidural and no pain medications of any sort), and Hannah was great with coaching me through breathing techniques. She was great at bringing me down from the height of my contractions during pushing. Although delivery is extremely difficult, I had an amazing team of nurses led by Hannah, making my experience of birth a positive one. I will recommend this office if any of my friends are expecting.
