I hate that I didn’t write down or remember her name but the woman who helped me was from Philadelphia originally. She was so kind and was able to help me find exactly what I was looking for, so quickly and with excellent service. She was also super friendly and helpful to anyone who walked in. Im thankful for my experience at this Visionworks and to the woman who helped me today! I’ll be a return customer if I have any more glasses needs.

Great place for eye exam. Super friendly staff. The Doctor was polite and informative, took time to explain my exam results. Choice of glasses and lens was not pushed or pressured to purchase any of the additional services.

This is my 1st experience in a eye place. Everyone here is amazing. They have huge smiles and joyful laughs. We definitely created memories today. Thanks for all the great eye techs that helped us. I visited the Athens Visionworks for the first time in Spring, 2025. I had already been to Costco for glasses with the same Rx, but was never completely happy with my lenses. I returned them for a refund. Then had glasses and sunglasses made with the same Rx at Visionworks. Admittedly, I was still not 100% satisfied with my Rx, but felt that after two attempts, that it was the Rx. After a period of time, it was time for my annual eye exam elsewhere. My doctor increased my prescription. So, I took both pairs of glasses back to Visionworks today to see if we could just keep the same frames and remake the lenses using the new Rx. I was prepared to pay as necessary. However, Nicole, the Manager, and Kiki looked me up in their system. I was unaware of the timing, and although I was outside of the 100 days for a prescription change without a charge, Nicole waived the fee this one time and took my glasses to send off with the new Rx. I was so impressed with Nicole and her handling of my situation. I encourage anyone looking for eyewear to visit Visionworks! Their exceptional customer service will keep you coming back! Thank you!

We have liked this place until now. We like the doctor and the lady that helped us was nice. My daughter wanted contacts and did the yearly exam in March. It wasn't made clear from the beginning after the class and trial we would have to have another exam for contacts if she didn't get them within 90 days. She did the class, the lady did not know how to teach her to put the contacts in, after an hour she said something about scheduling for another class. Nothing came of it. We kept calling off and on. We were told for her to watch YouTube videos etc and by this time my daughter had struggled to put the contacts in and ran out of trial. We called and talked to people several times within the 90 days but no one mentioned we had 90 days or would be charged again. We finally called on day 97 talked to someone who talked about a $60 fee for an exam for contacts again. My husband said we just needed someone to teach her how to put the contacts in but he said it wasn't made clear to him we were being scheduled for an exam. We went in and the lady mentioned running insurance and going from there. She did a better job than the first lady of teaching her how to put the contacts in. After she got the contacts in they were taking her in to see the doctor, I asked again about insurance because I figured there would be a charge if she saw the doctor, I told her we couldn't afford it if there was going to be a fee. I would have been fine with paying for the contacts they used and going home. She said she would run insurance and go from there. She mentioned insurance I knew only my husband and I were on and I spoke up and said I didn't think she was on that. After all was said and done she came back saying the insurance denied and it was going to be $60. I told her that I had already said we couldn't afford it. I was very upset and she said she made it clear to my husband but it wasn't clear to him what was being scheduled was going to cost us. We will fulfill what we have already done with contacts for this year but do not plan on using visionworks in Athens for our appointments next year. We will also buy any further contacts or glasses for the year online. We got the run around and it cost us extra money and do not appreciate it.

Both portions of my exam were handled professionally — the provider was knowledgeable, and the assistant demonstrated patience and courtesy throughout the process. Unfortunately, the pickup experience fell short of expectations. The level of service I received was neither what I anticipated nor reflective of the standard to which I am accustomed. This aspect of the visit was disappointing and ultimately overshadowed the positive elements of the exam. Regrettably, based on this experience, I do not anticipate returning to Visionworks in the future.

Employees have no clue!!! Useless… 2 weeks ago I did a warranty claim on my glasses, the lady asked me which location I wanted to pick them up from I told her Athens! We get off the phone she calls me back to confirm pickup will be Athens. Got the text yesterday they were ready for pick up. Drive an hour to get to Athens location. Two employees that were not helpful keep looking in the same drawer, saying they can’t find them. Then decide to look on there tablets where they continue to say they can’t find my order. After I provide the order# they are in Gainesville! Smh…

I highly recommend this location for your vision needs. The doctor took time with me to explain everything in a way I haven't had before and I've had contacts/glasses most of my life. The associates also helped me navigate my insurance and answered all of my questions. Everyone was personable and it was time well spent!
