It took a long time for me to seek out someone that I felt would really listen to my concerns with a hernia repair and an additional abdominal type repair I would need. Dr. Mejias really listened to my concerns and there were many. That is the first time that I felt like I had a surgeon that I could really communicate with as most I have had in the past with my multiple surgeries just really have a bad habit of talking over you and talking to you but not listening to you and letting you speak. I don’t know if I will proceed with having my repair work done, but if I do, he would definitely be the surgeon of my choosing.

The doctor was nice, but I had a weird experience. I’ve been to a lot of doctor appointments throughout my life, but never before have I ever had to undress with someone else in the room. Usually they tell you what to expect and to sit on the table and they’ll knock on the door when you’re ready, but not here. The doctor himself walked out but the nurse just stayed there. At first I didn’t do anything but she just didn’t leave. It was so awkward and to be honest, inappropriate. It’s already uncomfortable being there in the first place so not giving someone the small gesture of privacy to undress is so uncomfortable.
