I had a rather poor experience here, but I will be careful to list the good and the bad things I experienced here. Starting with the bad, since that is what left a lasting impression on me. I was referred here by my general physician because of unexplained weight gain over the course of a year (I gained weight without changing my diet or exercise levels, even increasing my exercise) and waited four months for an appointment (which is unfortunate but it happens), however the appointment itself only lasted about 20, 15 of which was spent on the topic of my diet. I got the impression that she did not believe something was wrong, and that it was my fault I had gained weight. To her credit, she did order a number of blood tests anyways, and then said she would see me in 3 months. The biggest problem came when I asked if I was still allowed to donate plasma. They said they would get back to me. About a week later, a nurse called and asked me “When you donate plasma, do you tell them that you have an autoimmune disorder?” I was shocked, I said “I didn’t know I had an autoimmune disorder.” She said “um.” I asked which one it was, just so I didn’t panic (I was preparing for a school trip to a remote island at this time, which is important for later). She said the doctor just wants to talk to me in person. I said I was going to be on an island for a month. We arranged a video appointment two weeks out. I had to wait TWO WEEKS with the knowledge I had SOME sort of autoimmune disorder, but not know which one or how severe, or how it would affect my life. I didn’t know anything, and they refused to answer my questions. When the video appointment finally came around, it revealed I had not one, but FOUR conditions causing my symptoms. One of which I wasn’t given a name for until I had another visit with my primary doctor. I had to leave the island to go get medication. All in all, I was pretty bummed by how they treated me here, and I felt like I got “teased” with the knowledge of what condition I had and its severity. To their credit, they did order the blood tests that did reveal some of my health issues. That’s why I’m giving a 2 star rather than a 1. Still, I’m very disappointed in the level of care I got, and will be seeking services elsewhere.
