From the young ladies intake through forms & wristband to Caleb to Dr. Wesley Brown, we got in quickly (1 hour before anticipated time) I was pleasantly surprised. EVERY staffer made the visit to an ER an epic afternoon out. Kudos to staff's positivity through the often darker visits. Great job, Piedmont.

I had a problem with my right eye burning. It was a quick check in process. Even though the blue cross blue shield servers were down. they moved me through quickly. The ophthalmologist PA, Alison, was polite, friendly. quick, thorough, explained everything, extremely knowledgeable and great at her job . The ophthalmologist was very thorough and coordinated with my ophthalmologist. Great team!

From walking in the door to being discharged, everyone was incredibly kind, caring and thoughtful. Sandy, who called patients back to the rooms was especially kind. Travis, the nurse on my case was wonderful. Dr Ritz was professional, knowledgeable, informative, and a great listener. The technician who did the CT Scan was also very patient centered and kind. My experience was of the highest quality. My only recommendation would be that one or two more physicians be hired because my time there was over four hours. Otherwise, everything was great. Thank you so much for providing our community with such high quality medical care.

We arrived at 1:30 pm and checked in. 30 minutes later went to triage booth and when I walked in the nurse was talking to the other nurse in the other booth and didn’t acknowledge us for a few minutes. He took information and acted as if he didn’t even care. He gave us out stickers and said to have a seat in the waiting area. An hour and a half later went were called back to a triage room where the nurse came in and said to put on the gown to be examined and I asked for a warm blanket. He brought the blanket in and then never came back. An hour later the doctor came in and I tried to explain to him that my PCP sent me to the ER because my hernia was protruding and having issues going to the bathroom. My pain level was NEVER asked by anyone and I was hurting. He examined me and stated he did not feel a protrusion and he did not detect a blockage but would do an X-ray to rule it out. X-ray tech was extremely nice and very thoughtful. She brought me back to the room and said it would be about 15 minutes and the doctor would have the results and come back. At 6:15 I asked my husband to ask the nurse if the doctor would be in before shift change at 7:00 since we were told that it would not be long from the X-ray tech. He said, “the techs always say that. It will take up to an hour for the doctor to read it and yours has not been read yet.” So I then pull up My Chart and the results were in there and I read them before the doctor even came in. Doctor came in and pushed on my stomach again said everything was good and to just follow up with my surgeon tomorrow. A new nurse came in (because of shift change) and reread what the doctor said and gave us the paperwork and said we could go. So after 5 1/2 hours I left still hurting and no help. Very disappointed in the whole experience.

I came to the ER with a possible DVT. I was quickly sent to cardiovascular radiology for a scan. Erick performed a seamless procedure. No long back in the waiting room I was offered a room. Clinicians were in and out testing. I I did not have a DVT which pleased me. The bad news was I have arthritis and possibly need a new knee. Everyone was friendly, efficient, and professional responding to all my concerns. My doctor was the best. I will always drive to Athens for all patient care in or out the hospital. Thank you for being there, Piedmont!

The nurses, Dr's, Xray and CT technicians were amazing and made my son and I feel comfortable, very helpful and knowledgeable. My son and I were involved in a motor vehicle accident, out 1st and it really helped us stay calm when being treated with such amazing care, specially since they were busy. Thank you for all you do.

We visited your ER department on9/3/25 for my husband. The visit was going fine. I am of the thinking that the ER is used for urgent care needed of which I felt was what my husband needed. My husband was having blood in his urine with a history of prostate cancer. The doctor when he came in had not even reviewed my husband medical record and knew nothing of his prior issues. He was seen by his urologist the prior week and had just had all the same lab work the and yes I realize labs can change. They reviewed the labs with us and told us just to monitor until my husbands appointment for a CT scan on 9/15/25. They did no scans or anything to try to find out where the blood was coming from. Nor did they try to get the appointment for the CT scan to be sooner. I called this morning and got the CT scan moved up from 9/15 to 9/8/25. I feel it was just a waste of our time and Medicare benefits. DO BETTER.

I had a great experience at Piedmont Athens ER. From the moment I arrived, the nurses and doctors made me feel so comfortable and cared for, even though I was feeling awful. They were kind, attentive, and explained everything in a way that eased my nerves. I truly felt like I was in good hands the entire time. I’m so thankful for the amazing team here!

Everyone was pleasant and seemed to know their jobs well. My room was very nice and clean. But.. the food was what you would expect of hospital food only quite cold. I jokingly mentioned it to my tech and he kindly said “I wish you had told me I would have put it in the microwave for you.” So I really can’t complain. The food is why I took one star off. I would certainly return to this hospital again for treatment.

My wife was in a car accident and came in through ambulance and the employees here treated her perfectly. From the front registration to the Dr himself 10/10. The nicest nurses possible. All questions answered promptly and professionally. Her nurse was quick and very responsive. Wonderful experience during a horrible moment. Thank you
