Jonathan and Brianna delivered my Mother home from the emergency room today. The coordination displayed in safely getting her back into our home was impressive given the amount of furniture that they navigated around. What impressed me most was the compassion and care displayed in how they gently returned her home. They handled the most important person in my world in the same manner that I would have and made sure that she was comfortable. My Mother was touched so much that she invited both attendants to drop by to see her if they were ever in the area. She felt and greatly appreciated their compassion and care. We need more people like them to deliver this kind of service. My family and I THANK THEM and wish them well. JD & Family 8/30/25

We called an ambulance for my mother at 3am on 9/1 because she said she couldn't breathe. The paramedics arrived, took an oxygen reading, and listened to her lungs. Despite her not being able to draw in a breath, the more dominant paramedic said her lungs were "awesome" and probably just had a cold. When she said she wanted to go to the hospital, he tried very hard to talk her out of it, but we insisted. He told her over and over the entire ride that she just had a cold and would likely just be sent home. He also repeatedly tried to get her to accept a steroid shot even though she told him she could not take steroids due to diabetes and congestive heart failure. At the hospital, she was admitted immediately due to fluid on her lungs and low oxygen levels. She has now been admitted for the last 5 days. I called that morning to complain and was told the commander for the county would return my call. I haven't heard a word. I feel like the paramedic didn't take my mother's concerns seriously because she is an elderly woman. It's a good thing we listened, or who knows what might have happened. The paramedic in question either needs remedial training or National needs to check that their equipment is working properly. At the very least, the paramedic needs training on empathy, something that seems integral to his ability to do his job.

This is two parts but both parts let you know just WHO this Pathetic Ambulance service is and for YOU to seriously consider all OTHER options if a situation arises. OCONEE County Georgia NEEDS their OWN ambulance service just like GREENE COUNTY has, an ambulance service that is affordable and one that is there to serve the people of the county and community with outstanding service instead of one such as National ambulance service which is there to ONLY make as much money as possible and one that is probably padding the pockets of local officials and county representatives in order to remain the only ambulance service available. During the summer of 2024 I was giving a transport to Athens regional medical center which was no more than EIGHT MILES and received an astronomical bill for $3600. At the time I was being driven to the hospital by a family member but THINKING we would be doing the (Right thing) and it would be a (Smarter) decision to stop by the fire station and have the ambulance continue from there, it's a decision I deeply regret and one that I will NEVER make again and encourage you NOT to do the same UNLESS you just have an unlimited amount of money that you want to throw away. NOBODY in their right mind would ever AGREE to a $3600 eight mile transport nor can ANYONE justify two people for no more than two hours and Eight miles making $3600. ITS WRONG on Soo many levels but when people's pockets are more than likely being padded NOTHING will stop this from happening day after day. An ambulance employee from Greene County which is approximately 30 miles away from the hospital said that a transport from Greene County to Athens Regional more than likely would not be more than $1200. The second part is that I work part time with a towing service in the county. After working a wreck I received a call that this particular ambulance service had lost one of it's medical bags and asked if I would check the vehicle that I had recently towed to see if it was inside. Knowing how important those supplies are, I immediately went and located the bag inside the vehicle that one of the employees from this ambulance service had left. Doing the right thing as oppose to setting the bag outside the facility and telling them to come pick it up I delivered the bag to their headquarters so they had it back in a timely manor. NOT one word of gratitude or Thanks for bringing their bag back and CORRECTING one of the employees mistakes was given by anyone. The employee that left the bag which I'm sure had some costly material inside KNEW it was returned in a timely manor and still didn't have the common decency to place a call and say Thank you. This ambulance service exists for the sole purpose of making as much money as it can And unless you just have it to give it away I would highly recommend choosing ANY alternative method YOU can including driving yourself.

We were given a bill of over $6000 for a single ride between Piedmont in Athens and CHOA in Atlanta for our very ill infant son. Insurance would have covered it if National EMS had coded the transport as "emergency," but EMS refused to. We told them that we did not have the means to pay a bill of this size, but they sent it to collections anyway, and we're now being hounded by collections agents. It's absurd and inhumane that we would have to pay over $6k for a single ambulance ride for a very sick infant, despite having insurance. Thankfully, our son got great care at CHOA and recovered, but one of the worst nights of our lives continues as long as this bill lingers.

7/23/2024 at 8:15pm, Athens, Ga. Ambulance number 05767 (I have the tag # as well) almost rear ended me going UP a hill as I was turning. My turn signal was on! I looked in my mirror as he was passing by and he was flipping me off as he gunned it past my turn. He had a female passenger/partner with him. There were no sirens nor emergency lights on and it had just started raining. National EMS, you know who the driver of this ambulance is. I hope this isn't the normal level of careless professionalism National EMS has out here transporting vulnerable patients.

I want to personally thank the young ladies at the National EMS unit #701. 1021 Lampkin Branch Drive Watkinsville, Ga. Let me tell you Amber and Trina did an outstanding job transporting me from the hospital to my residence. They got me back to my house safe and sound. They were awesome and provided an exceptional level of service. They moved me all by themselves. Especially with no help from the dispatch unit in Conyers who was more concerned about having to make the trip to my residence to assist Amber and Trina with their call for backup! Amber and Trina deserved an immediate raise to 40.00 an hour. Thank you ladies

First I want to say that the paramedics who responded to my call were great and I am very grateful to them. The company, however, sent a bill to collections despite the fact that my insurance has already paid it.

called 911 for a life threatening emergency, the ambulance strolled in 40 minutes later for a 11 mile drive, then sat in the driveway for another 10 minutes. Called, they blamed it on the local Oconee dispatch unit. Absolute terrible service. Disheartning to know you can NOT count on 911 if you have a true emergency.

On 3/21 I fell and broke both of my ankles. The EMT crew that came to get me had no compassion for me, seemed to not know what to do. And I told one of the ladies I cannot stand, she still forced me to stand. Which further injured my ankle. ACCFD came and lifted me into the chair to get me down the stairs. Then as they were taking me down the steps the chair brakes, and she catches my feet going down the stairs. No one told me their names, no one wished me good luck. I felt like it was just a bag'em and tag'em type thing. Suing sure sounds good.
