I am highly disappointed in my recent transaction with KEH. They came highly recommended back in 2012/2013 from a fellow photographer and I was satisfied with my purchase of my first Nikon D5000 and 18-55mm Lens. I decided to give them another try 2016/17, and purchased another Nikon D5000, kit kens, and a longer range zoom lens, all came in pristine condition, and were truly EX rated. My recent purchase May 2025, I purchased a Nikon DX Wide Angle 18-70mm lens, rated EX, but it was further from that. The lens came with an unbranded lens cap, sticky residue, had a chip in the plastic close to the glass, and there was debris in between the glass. I contacted support and was offered an even exchange. The lens was promptly returned, my transaction with affirm canceled, with no further communication from support even after reaching out. They had an opportunity to make this right and they didn't. This will be my last purchase with KEH and will not be recommending them within photography communities I participate in.

Overall, fantastic place to get gear, especially analog gear. They maintain a solid inventory and have very reasonable sale/return/exchange policies. What keeps me from giving a 5/5 is some of the sales staff. While everyone is mostly polite, some of the sales staff can be out right condescending, which is not beginner or even intermediate photographer friendly. When you are condescending to your customers, it creates an unpleasant atmosphere and it isn’t professional. Granted, this is just a few of the staff members. Most people are very friendly and helpful. The selection and in-store convenience keep me going there, but some of the sales staff needs to be more professional when facilitating a sale.

Can’t believe I’m actually having to do this. KEH has been the ONLY place I would get my gear from. I have had always nothing but good from them. However, my most recent purchase, I got a Pentax K7 in EX condition. When I received it it looks amazing. However after testing it I find that the AF would only work in live view mode. It will not hit focus using the OVF. I have reached out to them twice with no response. I will never buy anything from them ever again. Based off recent reviews it seems they have gone downhill. Buyers beware.

Great experience. Went to purchase an item that is in great demand that was advertised. Took some gear to trade in. So they did my trades first and then on to the purchase. Seamless. All questions answered before and after purchase. Do it again? Absolutely.

Disappointing experience as first time KEH seller... Offer changed 4-5 times lower during a time consuming process. Once KEH received the Nikon camera the offer dropped substantially. I now regret accepting the low offer. KEH sends you to an external payment service with poor UI. I would have better to sell locally via FB or craiglist.

I contacted KEH to sell them a digital camera They had me send them some pictures and then we had a Zoom appointment where they could look at the camera They gave me a decent offer of $237 They had me send the camera. It took a little bit longer for them to look at it than what I expected. Then they came back with an offer of $110 because they said that there were two minor blemishes one on the lens and one on the screen I do not concur that there were these blemishes, but even if there were, they should’ve been able to buff them out in five minutes After back-and-forth negotiating, they finally settled down $150 offer which is substantially less than the 237 I feel that they give you a legitimate offer and then once they have your camera, they lowball you I was not happy with the experience

I came to pick up my camera (Canon R5C) today and was told I had to respond to an email first, which I find incredibly frustrating. Mind you I live over an hour and 30 minutes away. The only “diagnosis” the team did was look at it and tell me the SD card door was snapped off—which was obvious, since that’s literally the only reason I brought it in for repair. Then I was told I couldn’t pick it up because they had to “put it back together,” but we all know it doesn’t take taking anything apart just to tell me the SD card door is broken. The email also said I could decline the repair and pay $75 to get my camera returned—but when I came to do exactly that, I was denied. I live over an hour and 30 minutes away. I was not told beforehand I had to respond to anything at any point to get my own property back. This is not the experience I expected or wanted. They also quoted me $637 to fix the sd card door and 6-8 weeks of repair time and every day I don’t have my camera is a day I’m losing money. This is ridiculous and there was zero professionalism in how any of this was handled. I could ship the damn thing to china and get it back fixed for way cheaper in that same time frame. Buying cameras and lenses? Not a bad place not the best but it’s decent. Repairs??? Don’t ever consider getting anything repaired here, you’re better off watching a 60 second video then give it to these people. Over $600 for that small fix should tell you these people don’t know what they’re doing and if they do they’re scamming you. $75 to look at my camera and tell me the SD card door snapped is so stupid it’s honestly kind of funny. Jokes aside, save yourself and go somewhere else to get it repaired. Being in the camera industry is already incredibly pricey. Save yourself some money and go elsewhere.

Friendly staff, very willing to have you try a lens before you buy. It's small, but functional. There isn't much of a showroom, but that would be impractical given the amount of gear they carry. They are more than happy to fetch something from their on-site warehouse. Recommended for working photographers and collectors. I've been a customer for years. I've bought some used pieces from other vendors, but when it absolutely has to be perfect, you go with KEH. If you're passing through Atlanta like I was, you should stop in. Highly recommended.

I just wanted to take a moment to share how great the staff at KEH is and how painless their process of selling gear is even if you are not local! I sold quite a few things to them and for the most part was offered fair rates for my gear and great communication. Even though I was not trading in and just selling gear, they took the time to explain to the offer to me and still paid out the highest of all others I got quotes from.

I walked in with a completely broken camera and Calvin helped me find 2 for the price I paid for the one I brought in. Not only that, but he helped me find a beautiful lens to add to my collection. He's also a major vibe and knows his stuff. Super grateful that I came in store for help because the website can be a little overwhelming if you're not super tech savvy. Will be coming back !!!
