Unfortunately this isn’t much more than a building anymore, but was great fun to walk and explore. All that’s left is Belk, a Jamaican restaurant, a couple small town clothing stores, and some places for the community like a taekwondo and a fencing training room. Would love to see this place rehabilitated into residential apartments/condos and small town business/farmers market stuff seeing as big business has abandoned it. Great place to come if you’re a fan of “the backrooms” or just need a place to walk.

This mall is dying. Very few stores remain; most notably there is a Belk and a Spencer’s still alive here. I suspect it won’t be long before this one is gone gone.

😬 Iykyk. But even the Athens Police West Precinct located in the 1st floor of this mall??!? {lol…smh} — was closed early (3 or 4PM on like, a Thursday, I noticed when I walked by. Place is a ghost town. No businesses there except like, Belk, JC Penny (where fashion comes to life, especially since we cannot see the softer side of Sears anymore now), some experiential thing called something “Lab” and 1 Nail Salon. But what matters is: they’ve still got these 2 massage chairs middle of the aisles walkin’ round downstairs that you pay to work.

Had some time to kill in Athens so we thought we would check out Georgia Square Mall. We found only a shell of a former mall. It's no mall. If it weren't for the Athens police having a station there it would just be Dillard's. Nothing there anymore! Unless they are having a community event, don't bother.

I went there with my daughter today and had a great time.. There was a Christmas parade with santa Claus .. and the lady let me and my daughter ride the motorized animals for free for like 45min which was extremely nice. I think it was bc of the parade but still she didn't have to do that but she did and we had an amazing time

Sad to see this nice mall deserted on a Saturday morning. It’s clean and well maintained but with Macy’s closed, Sears closing in a few days and Penney’s on the ropes, it won’t be possible or for the already struggling stores to remain open. w What will be done with this huge property? It’s such an eyesore to see abandoned, vandalized malls in other cities. I hope this one might be repurposed into something useful.

This mall barely has any businesses worth visiting open. So many stores have closed. There are more flea market type stores open. I did see a scrapbook store which was cute. Seems as though they were setting up for a class or something. The Macy's went out of business and seem to have taken quite a few stores with them.
