After seeing Sara’s breathtaking art for months on Instagram, I saw an opening in her calendar for May and I jumped at the opportunity! I knew she could bring my vision to life. I was wanting a portrait of my Basset Hound, Dexter and the Chico Lou’s team and especially Sara were phenomenal in every aspect of the journey. I reached out first via email for a consultation and got a response from the Chico Lou’s team quickly much to my pleasant surprise. I was able to make a consultation appointment with Sara and she was very helpful and kind listening to my ideas. The drive was 1.5 hours and when I went in for the consultation, I was met with a smile and a greeting before I met with Sara. As we talked about what I wanted for my tattoo, I could tell she was really listening to everything I was saying; even including ideas that would help make my vision come more to life. She was taking notes making sure she remembered everything but, also did not take her attention away from me. It was comforting to know that I was being heard. I was able to gather photos for reference and email them to her and as my tattoo appointment came closer, Sara reached out to go over with me again on all the points I was wanting to highlight. When the time came for my appointment, I felt that we were both well prepared for the day. The Chico Lou’s team and Sara both made me feel comfortable when I came in for my appointment. Sara continued to go over the details with me and show me what she had drawn up and asked me if there was anything at all she could fix for me, what I wanted to highlight more; really making sure that I was happy with the design. When I gave some feedback, she immediately got to work trying to make my vision come more to life. Being able to articulate those things with my artist just goes to show she really cared about me and what I was wanting. Once we added in those extra details everything started coming to life and I was so excited. Throughout the stencil, prepping process, and the actual tattoo: Everything was sterile and new. Gloves would be taken off and replaced frequently along with making sure no cross contamination took place. I felt safe and did not once feel uncomfortable. Sara made sure everything was to my liking and that I was in the best position throughout. Due to the sensitive area it was in, I was shaking quite a bit but, Sara was gentle and understanding allowing me to take breaks as well so that I wouldn’t be too overwhelmed. The process was long but, the end result was absolutely worth it and it was EVERYTHING I could dream of. After it was finished, we took some photos and then Sara put a “second skin” over the tattoo to help it not be contaminated for the first few days. She explained the aftercare process to me thoroughly, making sure I knew everything I needed to know to take the best care of my healing tattoo. She also gave me a pamphlet that explained the aftercare along with an ointment for the skin. She walked me to my car after we finished everything and it was overall one of the best experiences I’ve had. As my tattoo was healing, I knew everything I needed to do and was told I could have called the shop to ask for advice if I did run into any problems (which I ended up not needing to do). Since it has fully healed, it still looks as beautiful as ever and I am so grateful to have chosen Sara to help make not only my tattoo but, my tattoo experience something I will cherish and never forget. -On a side note, I did have a previous tragus piercing that I was unable to untwist and the piercer, Kai was amazing and so quick in helping me get it off and give me tips on how to clean the area! It was painless and made me laugh at how easy it was for them to do when I myself tried pliers and was unable to get it off! They were so sweet and even put the jewelry in a baggie so that I wouldn’t lose it! Thank you to Sara and everyone on the Chico Lou’s team in making my experience the best. I will definitely be coming back!

I had just about the most phenomenal experience you could have where someone is sticking you with needles! Sara's tattooing is just beyond, truly breathtaking but also has such a physicality to it. My tattoo looks like something I could touch/grab off my arm because of the shading and depth and texture. Her shop is gorgeous, everything is incredibly clean and sterile, and I felt so comfortable throughout the process of my first tattoo. The way she took my request and turned it into a piece of art is amazing, not only does it mean something to me, but I feel lucky to own a little piece of her work! I highly recommend her to anyone with taste.

Sara is the best of the best in Georgia. Her art is incredible both on canvas and skin. Shes an absolute joy to sit for. I get constant compliments on my tattoos… and in Athens even other artists know her art without asking! Legendary!! Chihuahuas are great, cacti are great, Sara is great!
