Where to begin? Series of disappointments. 1. No one said anything about where the surgery will take place, no phone, texts or emails. 2. Doctor, Nurse or staff didn’t care to make a follow up calls to show concern after surgery, neither Doctor cared to call and provide update to patient, his family to give updates. 3. 100s of people are available before hours in the office but phone is only answered by answering service who cannot help you at all. 4. During the lunch break no one except answering service can answer although staff is present, even if you call before break hours, no one answers. 5. Absolutely unorganized office! Seems they are happy with incompetence/incoming patients, no body is bothered about patient’s well being or his/her concern. 6. John (the Nurse) is only one responsible person/working man there, thanks! Utterly disappointed! Specially when you do not hear from the Doctor performing surgery, doesn’t bother to call, see or talk - not even to family!

Last week they told us a co pay. When we got there it was more. I paid part of the copay and was informed they needed the whole amount. After all what I paid wouldn’t even cover the medication. They said that they wouldn’t do the procedure if I didn’t pay it all. They acted like they couldn’t run the office unless they got all of the copay. Seems like they care about money instead of the patient. We like Dr Blankenship, but to demand money before treatment isn’t the best policy.

Some of the staff can be so rude. No return calls. Dad loved Liz. She put him at ease. They set dad up with home health so we do not have to go to the office as much. Home health nurses are wonderful.

I had emergency surgery on feb 14th At Piedmont Athens regional for a very large kidney stone. The entire process has been a nightmare. (The on call urologist was great, but the office staff for my follow up care was terrible. On hold for hours with no resolution. Extremely rude! This process was terrible!) Then I decided to see Dr Blankenship for a second opinion and my next options in this nightmare . Dr Blankenship and his staff is absolutely amazing. For 2 months this kidney stone process and the on call physician’s office made this the worst experience ever. I am so thankful for Dr Blankenship and his staff.. I can finally see a light at the end of this tunnel and I am so thankful! This office is the way to go!!

My lifelong ongoing urology story started on King Ave.with Dr. R. Payne and he was wonderful for me. Upon his retirement, Dr. T. Oliver became my phenomenal doctor. He not only treated my original problems but he also diagnosed the uncurable bladder disease I have. When he retired, he left his patients in the caring hands of Dr.Blankenship, who moved back to the original office on King Ave. Dr. B has learned about IC and with medications, treatments, and surgeries, to give me as much pain relief as possible. Each and every nurse and staff member at Dr. Blankenship's office are priceless! I truly love and appreciate everyone there, because they all care and try to help me. If you need a urologist, make an appointment with Dr. Blankenship, I believe you will be blessed.

No sense of urgency here, with the doctor or some of the staff. This was in March/ April of 2020. ( Heard from another similar comment recently, about lack of a sense of urgency given patient with an aggressive cancer diagnosis.) Went in for very painful kidney stone & what I thought was prolapsed bladder. You'll be fortunate to meet the doctor after 4 or 5 visits. You'll be working with physicians assistants, some who were competent & nice, some not. It took 4 or 5 visits before I met the doctor to discuss my scan for the kidney stone. ( Was already told by assistants that my concern about bladder prolapse wasn't founded, but not where prolapse was located.) Dr Blankenship told me I had a stone. (Really?) That it was likely causing more pain as it was large & on occasion was probably getting caught in the ureter, blocking flow of urine. No mention of the cyst in there. ( Had to ask) No plan. No sense of urgency. No meds to open up ureter more to enable stone to perhaps pass more easily. Just ..if you feel like it, give us a call in a few weeks. And no mention of the prolapse issue. Find a practice that will partner with you to diagnose & treat your problem. I did find a great practice after I left Dr Blankenship's office. At the new practice, ( Athens Area Urology) I met Dr Steele, the urologist the first visit. Helped with the kidney stone until it moved through the ureter and the doctor further examined & found my colon had prolapsed & was pushing against other parts. They ( Dr Schwender) performed surgery to correct the issue within a month of that exam. They provided the care I had hoped to find my last stop, but did not receive.

My former urologist of over 30 years retired and referred me to Dr. Blankenship. I was very nervous about seeing a different urologist but Dr. Blankenship and his staff were very welcoming and took the time to make me feel comfortable. I am very pleased with the change after all!

Dr. Blankenship has been our Dr for almost 15 years. He has always been very personable, listened to our concerns, and worked with us through a cancer diagnosis and treatment. We moved from the area, tried a different urologist, got completely messed up. So we came back and after a biopsy, was feeling much better. It takes a 2 hour drive, but we won't change again.

I've been Dr. Blankenship's patient for over 20 years. He's the best urologist I've found. Highly recommend.

My father has been under the care of Dr. John Blankenship for over 10 years. My Dad is 91 years of age and Dr. Blankenship has held his prostate cancer at bay all these years and continues to do so. Recent psa levels were great. In addition my Dad has dementia and Dr. Blankenship is always so compassionate and kind with him. Can’t thank him enough!
