Dr. Mixson did our 1 year old’s ear tube surgery and we had a great experience. He and his staff are wonderful, and he was super sweet with our son! The tubes have helped him immensely. He started getting sick way less often, and hardly any ear infections. We’re really grateful.

Dr. Mixson is absolutely wonderful! While we have only had two office visits and surgery. He has been so thorough and took the time to explain everything. I am also really impressed with the office staff. Everyone has been so nice and helpful. I’m not sure the employees name who normally sits where established patients check in, but I want to commend her, on her kindness. I witnessed her helping an elderly patient write down his medications for him. I thought that was so nice and should be recognized!

Dr. Mixson did my sinus surgery in April which has been proven to be so beneficial! He explained everything to me and the recovery was so easy just like he said it would be. Just recently I called Dr. Mixson’s office as I was not able to walk because I was so dizzy and nauseated. I called my family doctor but got no help whatsoever. However, I had left a message with Dr. Mixson’s nurse Samantha and she called me back and said that if I could come on Dr. Mixson would work me in as he didn’t want me to have to spend the weekend dealing with this. I went in gave him my symptoms and he felt as if he knew possibly what it was. He then ordered an MRI for me which I had the next day. He also scheduled an appt for me this Monday to go over the MRI and see if the medication has improved my condition which I can say thank heavens I am feeling better! While having my MRI I was so nauseated and my husband called his sweet nurse Samantha and asked if he would call me in a prescription for nausea and of course he helped me out there too! I highly recommend Dr. Mixson! He is such a knowledgeable and compassionate doctor and Samantha is a top notch nurse as well!

This my first time going to ENT of Athens and I couldn’t be happier that they helped with my nasal drip to a point where I have the I felt like I was giving up till I went to them. I am from out of state and my daughter is a Freshman student at UGA. She was referred to ENT of Athens by the local hospital with a raging and bleeding ear infection. They recommended she see a specialist. Dr Mixson observed her, looked in her ear and told her it should just go home and did not require any procedure. He advised her to come back in a few days to see her which she did. My issue is that he spent a total of 20 minutes during 2 visits, performed no tests yet we got a bill (she was uninsured at the time of the visit) for a total of $590.00. This is legalized theft and what is wrong with our healthcare system. I called to dispute or get explanation and was rudely told they have every right to charge what they charged. $340 for new patient office visit, $90 for looking in her ear (they called it a fancy name so they could charge extra-binocular microscopy) and $160 for the follow up observation. Completely ridiculous.

Dr Mixon has a nice southern charming bedside manner. He knows what he is doing as a surgeon also. My recovery was fast and even though I dreaded my deviated septum surgery. It was not bad at all. When he pulled the splints out it was just uncomfortable. Now I can breath through my nose.
