I'd give Lynn Williamson at Budget Truck Rental in Athens, GA a zero if I could. Had my reservation for a month. Flew in the night before, received a message at 8am the next day (my reservation was for 9am) that she did not have my truck and to call the 800#. I tried calling her to see if ANY other size truck was available. No answer so I went there. She did NOT care, did not offer to call another budget or help in any way. Isn't that your job to make sure the trucks are available prior to pickup?? Yes things happen, but this is the WORST customer service I have seen.

I had a reservation to pick up a Budget rental truck at 11:30 AM from this location. When I arrived, I was told they would only hold the truck for one hour — yet they did not have a truck at all, even during that window. They claimed one would be brought from Atlanta by 4:00 PM, which turned out to be completely false. It quickly became clear they were just trying to delay and avoid responsibility. After multiple calls, they told me I would need to contact customer service or their boss — but no one ever picked up. Every time I tried calling, I was ignored. I returned to the store, and they still had no truck and no solution. They even directed me to another location in Conyers, saying a truck was available there — that also turned out to be a lie. Conyers confirmed they had no such vehicle. At no point did this location take accountability for the mistake or try to fix the issue. In the end, they forced us to leave the store after completely wasting our time. Avoid this location at all costs. Completely unprofessional, dishonest, and unwilling to help. The woman assisting us repeatedly gave us misleading information and seemed entirely uninterested in resolving anything. UPDATE: Since Budget replied asking if we used a different company—yes, we did. We went to U-Haul on North Ave in Athens. After hearing about our experience with Budget, they chuckled and said, “This is why you should always use U-Haul.” Then they immediately found us a truck, brought it into town, and even upgraded us to a 20-foot truck for the price of a 15-foot. So yes, Blake, U-Haul is where we went—and where everyone else should go too! Perhaps if you’d check the other trillion reviews about this property being incapable of checking reservations and being proactive about getting trucks there, and talked to your employees about their hateful tones, you’d have some positive reviews. :D

I had a truck reserved for 11:30 AM on Thursday. They called me at 10:45 AM that same morning (which is today, by the way) to leave a voicemail saying the truck was "not available." The nearest available truck, they said in their message, was 40 miles away. I attempted to call them back, repeatedly. Every one of my calls went to an automated system. When I finally got through to an actual human, it was someone from a call center, who helpfully informed me that I would have to call the location directly. When I replied that "calling the location directly" was how I reached the call center in the first place, the woman said that this is what happens if the location doesn't answer. So, that was it. I am moving. TODAY. I am supposed to be at the door of my new house in another state tomorrow morning! Not only did this place cancel my reservation 45 MINUTES before I was scheduled to pick it up, they made it impossible for me to even speak to someone about it. I know mistakes happen, but seriously, HOW IS THIS LEGAL? I am sitting in my living room with all my things in boxes. I am frantically trying to find a truck through another company, and the people responsible for this situation won't even take a phone call. I can't stress this enough: A CRITICAL RESERVATION WAS CANCELLED WITH VIRTUALLY ZERO NOTICE AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO TALK TO ANYONE ABOUT IT. Short of them, I don't know, setting my belongings on fire, I'm having a hard time imagining worse customer service. I'm not only never going to use this place again, I'm never going to use Budget again. For anything. Ever. And if I do manage to move, it will be in spite of this wretched company. Absolutely shameful.

I thought it was strange that they did not do a walk around inspection of the vehicle with me like other dealerships do when they first handed me the keys but when i asked about it they said everything should be fine so i took their word for it and took off. I didnt realize until i was returning the car at my destination that i realized on the slip they had written that the tank was full when in reality it was 7/8th full when i first took off. Prior to returning the car at my destination, i only filled the car back up to 7/8th because that was the level i received it at, but then when i realized the mistake my two options were to make another trip to the gas station during rush hour or get hit with a $10 per gallon charge to fill up the tank. It was a minor inconvenience but so annoying after having already spent the whole day on the road. Make sure u check your slip carefully before taking off…

I reserved a van on Jan 3, 2025 for May 10, 2025. I wanted a van not a truck since I would be driving from Georgia to Massachusetts. A few days before pick up I got an automated email reminding me of my van rental. Still wanting to confirm I tried to call the local Budget in Athens, GA and all I got was an automated bot that went around and around with no connection to the local office. The day of pick up there was a line out the door of customers. The woman at the counter informed me there was no van at all and I was getting a truck. But not a 12 foot truck, a 16 foot truck!! A double "free" upgrade. I specifically said I rented with Budget because I wanted a van, not a truck. She stared at me and asked if I wanted to cancel and take my business elsewhere. It was college move out so I was in a tough spot and had to take the truck...and driving it was absolutely stressful and awful. Customer service was terrible and she had over 5 months to get a van to her location. DO NOT USE!

I am very disappointed with this location. I made my reservation online for a10;30 am pick up. Once I got here I was informed that I wouldn't be able to get my rental until 4:30 pm. I took an Uber to get here. She told me she could call me when a car would be available. There are multiple cars sitting on the lot, but she said that her computer system is down and wouldn't know when it would be back up. This is now causing me to have to delay the commitments I had for today. If it wasn't for the fact that I already paid and due to I live in a rural area without other options I would cancel my reservation. If I were you I would think twice before renting from here. The photos I have attached are the cars that are presently on the lot. This will be the last time I use this location.

Calls and reserves car. Promises me a car. Drives 45min just to get there and tells me to my face"no car". Has the nerve to tell me they contact at 5pm for a car, when it was already 4pm...String me along for nothing.Thank goodness I decided to pay when I got to the counter. They had the nerve to ask if I would pay over the phone or when I show up.

We had a reservation to pick up a vehicle and the vehicle was not available when we were supposed to pick it up. The lady that works at the desk was absolutely rude and not willing to help at all. Do yourself a favor and don’t rent an anything from these people.

I have had to deal with 3 different budgets and budget corporate over the last week and this by far was this worst one I had interactions with. I did a reservation in October 2024 for my spring break trip this year April 2025. I called on Wednesday 4/2 to change my pick up time from 8 am To 3 pm due to leaving later for my trip and Huey confirmed that my 12 passenger was going to be available on Friday 4/4. I called back again just to make sure because I also had did a reservation in Gainesville and they said they were having hard times securing vans. She seemed irritated and was like everything is good and ready for pick up on Friday and she was looking at the van. Friday gets here and Lynn called at 2:30 to say I do not have a van the only thing I MIGHT have is a 5 passenger SUV at 5 pm, obviously if I rented a 12/15 passenger van a 5 person vehicle is not going to do anything for me. She was very unprofessional and did not try to help. Upon talking to someone when I did return my rental yesterday and speaking to a person there, they did her the same way and gave her a smaller car and reading reviews I see this is very common at this location in Athens. Luckily Gainesville took care of me and did have get me two vehicles.

My wife returned her rental July 4th no one there, waited it the 5th called to confirm return, no answer, went in person the 7th of July, they were very rude, would not recommend you rent from them unless you like a bunch of hassle, according to them the car was left in Arizona, very unorganized and very rude.
