I’ve attended this gym for several years. When I first joined, the 105 pound dumbbells were broken, and they are still broken. The 100 pound dumbbells were broken when I was home in December of 2024, and they’re still broken in June of 2025. The gym demonstrates a pattern. Something breaks, and the gym doesn’t fix it. Something is dirty, and the gym doesn’t clean it. The Google reviews, and this one too, point to the gym ownerships having a lack of interest in maintaining their facilities. If you’re local, you’re better off buying a memberships at Crunch. However on a positive note, the gym has great staff and a large variety of equipment.

I’ve been going to this gym for a few years. I was a member when it was called Omni, but cancelled my membership after a year because it was too expensive. After about a year, Crunch opened, so I joined it because it was cheaper and people hadn’t really caught on to it yet. Well, tons of people left Athens Health and Fitness to go to Crunch, so the crowd was now unbearable. So I left Crunch to go back to Athens Health and Fitness because AHF had now lowered the monthly rate to be competitive with Crunch. That lost in revenue, while trying to maintain the amenities is what I think contributed to what many guests complain about. Since rejoining AHF, the service and quality of the experience has declined. The gym has GREAT equipment and a ton of options (I would actually rate the equipment 4.5 out of 5), but the cleanliness and maintenance of the overall facility brings my overall rating down to 2 out of 5. The men’s locker room is blazing in the warmer months, the showers have been being retiled for almost a year and a half, and the staff fails to perform basic actions to make the place presentable for guests. I often work out in the morning when the gym first opens. On numerous occasions I’ve walked into the locker room and it appears it hasn’t been cleaned since 8am the day before. The staff opening or closing the facility should pick up any trash or towels laying around. I’m sure maintaining the facility is expensive, but a lot of the things people complain about can be addressed from simple ongoing upkeep. Please get all six showers operational in the men’s locker room. There’s constantly a wait in the mornings when there is a rush of guys trying to get ready for the day. It’s also tragic that the steam room is no longer working. That’s one of the things that made this gym stand out. Overall, I do think this gym could be the best in Athens, but the staff don’t treat it like it is.

Let me preface this with I was extraordinary spoiled at Genesis prior to joining, however I digress. The gym...is fine. There is room for improvement. Examples would be repairing the floor where the majority ofbtheir patrons stretch, purchasing a storage closet tobstore cleaning supplies (i.e. mops, brooms etc.), doing a better job of keeping the floor and restrooms cean, maintenance of their equipment or upgrading to newer pieces. The staff are pleasant, for the most part. With the occasional person sitting at the desk in the a.m. more interested on whatever is on their phone then greeting people. The price is more than reasonable, however you are getting what you pay for.

They have a good amount of equipments, but they are all old and torn. They really need to teplace them. They are also so cheap with the AC. The place is so hot and you can get really sweaty soon. So many people come to the gym and yet they dont have the AC on. You are better off going to another gym. Will be cancelling my membership

Extremely predatory subscription model that requires very specific notarized letters to cancel. Talk about jumping through hoops… I had forgotten about the subscription and they hired a third party to call and yell at me- even threaten legal action over $100. Are you serious? Avoid this place like the plague, there’s better options in Athens and it’s cheap for a reason.

I came across this gym because I was wanting a gym that had childcare. I love this gym because 1. The child care is awesome! The ladies are so sweet and my kids love coming here. 2. They have “parents night out” every 2nd Friday of every month, 5$ per kid for 4hrs!! 3. They have a women’s only mini gym inside the womens locker women! If any moms are looking for a gym with childcare and womens only mini gym.. I highly recommend!!

SCAM ALERT!!!!!!!!!! Pros: A lot of different equipment/machines to use. Large gym, feel as though if a certain machine isn't available that I'm looking for, there is always another in my circuit open. The front desk people seem friendly enough for a gym considering the limited interactions. I've seen fellow members help provide advice to others who seem to be starting out to help them maximize their workout. Large cushioned area for stretching and abs workout a super cool feature that I wish more gyms had. The hours are fantastic. They are always open early and tend to open late enough for me to get a quick workout in even if I'm working late at work Cons: Cleanliness and maintenance. A few of the machines seem to be in need of repair and are missing the grips on the handlebars, ensuring you get this sticky gunk all over your hands if used. Others seem to be missing an entire part of the machine, which, according to the machine's diagram, is part of the machine to help maximize your workout. I can not speak for the women's locker room, but the men's locker room is also in need of repair. While it is cool to have a few cushy chairs, pool tables, and TV in there, they all seem incredibly worn down. Other things such as emergency exit lights or tiling seem to be falling apart, and I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed to help keep up the image of this gym. The lack of cleanliness standard here I also feel provokes members to not always clean up after themselves when using a machine. While I believe they have a steam room, they have been closed in both locker rooms due to "continued problems," which is clearly posted on the entrance to the locker rooms. Neutral: While there is a wide variety of members here, I do believe it's skewed more heavily to college students. People's outfits here can be quite....interesting. I have seen multiple individuals wearing jeans (which just makes me think of IASIP). Like every gym, you might also encounter individuals sucking up time on machines while they mess around on their phones, a very minor annoyance and slight entertainment. They also have a multitude of both male and female trainers (in case you feel more comfortable with one gender) and a meal plan to help you with your fitness goals; though I cannot speak anymore about either since I don't utilize those services. In summary, I don't feel they deserve 4 stars; while at the same time, I feel they deserve better than 3. If possible, I would rate them a 3.5, but since that isn't possible on google, I'm rounding up to a four. If they maintained their slightly equipment better (mainly by ensuring the grips were present and in good shape) and had a cleaner appearance (especially in the locker room), I would rate them a solid 4 possibly higher. I recommend at least taking a look at this gym if you are considering signing up for a membership. One star update: Called to cancel my account over a year ago, was told it was done. Got a letter from a collection agency today saying I owe them nearly $300. Do not join this scam of gym.

I work out often with a friend and truly it is as far as size has plenty of space. every machine or piece of equipment I can think of is available. We have a great time working out there. The music caters to everyone that comes; varying in age and experience (I’m definitely a novice) On a sour note the cleanliness of the gym itself offers little comfort. Not to say sharing a public space doesn’t come with , give and take however I’m hoping not to take home anyone else’s hair. I can say this gym is an amazing place to go workout and hang with my friend. It’s a challenge to overlook the showers and hair from a week ago or the carpet in the women’s gym collecting hair. I believe this experience can changed. there are some things that I understand come with a sharing a public space. With a shared idea of the right direction regarding the potential here, I can see me continuing to workout here. I am very thankful to all staff and to my friend for bringing me along with her to work out. I do enjoy Athens Fitness and for improved regard to cleanliness and upkeep. (PS I’m willing to lend two hands)

Just like any other predatory gym that also makes you pay for their errors, which is disappointing because I thought I could expect better from a local gym...my mistake

Had an incredible first-time experience this morning at Athens Health & Fitness with Holly! She’s an INCREDIBLE personal trainer/nutritionist - so knowledgeable, cheerful, understanding, and really listens to what YOUR body needs and directs you from there. The yoga class Holly taught was personalized and rejuvenating. Front desk staff were so accommodating, clear, & kind. Truly was a great first experience with them! Can’t wait to come back.
