Five Stars for Athens Family Dental – The Future of Dentistry Is Here I’ve never written a dental review before, but Athens Family Dental—and more specifically, Dr. Alex and her hygienist Emily—deserve one. First, the technology. They’ve upgraded the entire experience. No more jaw-breaking contortions just to get an x-ray or cleaning. They use a small, handheld wand to scan teeth with incredible precision, and a new device (called something “Lite”) that gently holds your mouth open during procedures. It’s painless, comfortable, and light-years ahead of the usual approach. This is dentistry without the dread. Dr. Alex (yes, she goes by her first name, and yes, she’s earned that level of cool) is sharp, compassionate, and deeply skilled. Hygienist Emily—red-haired, warm, and just as smart—is the kind of professional who puts you at ease the moment she starts talking. They’re a powerhouse team: personable, highly competent, and genuinely kind. The office is spotless, beautifully run, and clearly built with patient comfort in mind. I’m deeply impressed—and grateful to have found a place that blends heart, brains, and cutting-edge care. Highly recommend. — Shelley Lawrence

My son had his wisdom teeth removed, and despite being told I could stay until he fell asleep, the doctor abruptly asked me to leave the moment he arrived even though my son wasn't out yet. The nurses then made unprofessional comments about me after I left that my son heard and then they laughed about it including calling me a "helicopter mom" and then he told me they used profanity while getting him in the wheelchair. While the procedure was efficient, the bedside manner was lacking. I would caution others, especially parents of sensitive children, any children with disabilities, or matter of fact any child at all because it's uncalled for so I would say to consider an alternative. Because my son heard all of this, and I didn't tell my son anything about the things he heard me say to the doctor, all while the doctor is sayingI have to go, times up get out we're on a time limit here, he's asleep I was trying to explain well sir he can't be because literally when he walked in she was injecting my son. I thought I could stay in there until he fell asleep because that's what I was told. Thankfully everything went well during surgery but I didn't get to get a proper goodbye just to my son so while he is supposedly out, he heard all of that uncindness then all of the bashing by the nurses when I moved from the front waiting area to the closest one to my son. Please consider going somewhere else if you want some kindness and a better bedside manner. I don't usually ever ever ever leave a review but for the next parent please consider somewhere else. I'm thankful my child is older but I could not imagine a younger child sitting there listening to someone bash their parent. My son he said he kept trying to say don't talk about my mama like that but he said words couldn't come out of his mouth. My son is a child of God and he along with our entire family is praying for this facility to learn to love and show kindness.

Staff was nice and polite. Hygienist was chatty but polite and did a decent cleaning but this is one of those places where the cleaner likes to play dentist to make you feel like you are getting care when in fact you are just generating sketchy bills that you will have to pay because these days it’s easier to just pay than to navigate the cartel between your insurance and these harvesters of fees called “providers”. The place is not modern. Treatments are not in private rooms but in open bays. Noisy. Cluttered. Low-end equipment. Not a comfortable space at all. The dentist could not speak English and spent literally 15 seconds with me. They said I owed nothing at the end of the appointment but then sent me numerous bills for services “apparently” not covered by my insurance. Every other dentist I’ve been to with this same insurance never billed me for my semi-annual appointments. This place is sketchy. I do not trust them. Their approach is sloppy and the actual dental “doctor” care is ridiculous. Two stars for the nice staff. The rest is total garbage.

Had a great experience here at Athens Family Dental, everything was so fast and smooth from the consultation and the appointment For the extractions! Everyone in the office had a positive uplifting personality, not one person had a dad attitude. Will use again and highly recommend.

Wisdom Teeth Removal Experience: Wow wouldn’t even begin to describe my experience with Athens Family Dental. I was extremely anxious about my appointment as this was my first ever surgery and the staff went above and beyond. They allowed my husband to come back with me which brought me a lot of peace of mind. All of the staff was phenomenal especially knowing that I was nervous they made a point to talk to me and assured me it would be quick and easy. Dr. Cho had an extremely friendly demeanor, and he not only was very well experienced and knowledgeable, as he explained everything to me prior to the operation, but extremely skilled with the operation itself. My bottom teeth were on a nerve and I did not sustain any nerve damage and have no numbness on my lips which was a relief. I was waiting for excruciating pain but surprisingly had minimal to no pain just soreness which is common the first day. To my biggest surprise I woke up with no pain the second day (which is my current day) other than some normal soreness and tightness. Overall Dr. Cho and all the hygienists/assistants were phenomenal and I would 100% recommend to anyone, especially if you are more on the nervous/anxious end like myself. Thank you to the staff!

I had an abscess tooth, my face was swollen and I was in so much pain. I called to make an appointment, couldn't get one for almost a week, so I took my own antibiotics and got rid of the infection before the appointment. I still went, because I need to have the tooth removed. They were supposed to send this to my insurance to see how much I'd have to pay out of pocket and give me a call..... It's been almost 2 months and I haven't heard a word back from them. I'll be finding a different dentist.

I can’t say enough good things about Athens Family Dental. I’ve been coming here for years, and after a couple of years away, I made the mistake of trying a different dental office closer to me — and it was a terrible experience. They tried to tell me I needed 10-15 crowns, multiple procedures, and quoted me outrageous prices. I came back to Athens Family Dental for a second opinion, and as always, they were kind, honest, and professional. They let me know I only needed one crown for an old filling and didn’t try to upsell me on anything unnecessary. The staff made me feel so comfortable and reassured after such a stressful experience elsewhere. I’ve learned my lesson — I’ll never go anywhere else again. If you want a dental office that actually cares about their patients and their well-being, Athens Family Dental is the place to go.

Very shady ppl , rude , they will ignore you when you have left several messages every couple days , after consultation they won’t call you for appointment you have to call them to have them call you . They will dismiss you as a patient even for medical emergencies or sickness if you cancel . The oral surgery manager is the worst and doesn’t care about anyone . There was only one great person there he was the dentist but I don’t remember his name he was older gentleman he use to own his own practice but now works under this horrible establishment . I’d suggest if you don’t have to use them don’t !!!!!

My son had complex oral surgery here through Dr. David Miller. Even though the experience was complex, they made my wife and son feel very comforted through the whole experience. We live 1.5 hours from Athens, the drive was well worth it. The whole staff is absolutely wonderful. We highly recommend!
