Your city must be proud to be acknowledged in the 47th presidential 1st state of the union address. Laken Riley act. You and your mayor can stand tall to be held in such regard. I hope you all watched that wonderful speech and hid away in the closet while reathing of embarrassment. All of the city government employees should feel the guilt after knowing how your actions failed this womans life. Shame, shame, shame.

How lame is it that there are not any fireworks in Athens on the actual 4th of July? No one celebrates a national holiday the Saturday before the national holiday. It’s a national holiday! Most people are off work, most people want to celebrate. And why did they move away from downtown? If not downtown, why not Bishop park at least. Should we celebrate New Year’s Eve the Saturday before the actual day if it happens to fall on a weekday? Let’s just keep the actual day special. Imagine being a kid wanting to see fireworks on the 4th of July. “No hunny - the fireworks happened on June 29th?” “What’s significant about June 29th? “Well, it’s a Saturday.” Athens has a habit of making everything lame. Why can’t we just be normal?
